still zero competing looter shooters in the same genre, gameplay is really good when the activities arent obnoxiously difficult
-
this is the part I enjoy = not chasing light level; just loggin in for a minute or a session; still collecting things and checking boxes. really just waiting for IB (I know it's just control) but there's just something about it and a chance to collect some better IB armor I play other games as well, so there's that

a: Light Saber Thoughts: Bungie screwed the pooch with the portal heck all the way back to Neomuna when they stated they wanted the game to be harder, embraced all the woke crap, and devs laughed at players not having fun. That year was the first layoffs, player number fell off and revenue was not as expected. I can't imagine why. Comments: Bungie did this to themselves, they had plenty of feed back they were headed in the wrong direction, but ignored ALL of it. Concerns: None! Why would anyone have concerns? Players did not kill the golden goose. Players did not contribute to the demise. We voted with our wallets and now Bungie is where every company who totally ignores their customers ends up!

Despite everything I’ve said on here, despite the bugs and the multitude of asinine decisions Bungie have made, the game is fun. Outside of the Portal,
which is absolutely hideous for so many reasons I cannot be bothered to expand on it any further other than stating that it destroys the heart of mystery and exploration by providing more and more layers of tedious menus which act as another barrier to just picking Destiny up and playing
, the game is pretty much amazing. There is loads of stuff to do and if the gear you get hadn’t been ruined or tainted by the poorly implemented Tier system, more people would still be playing. I’ve been Sherpa-ing the raids I know, helping people out and learning the raids I missed when I took a 3 year break from the game. I’ve met some really cool people recently who also love the game and are as passionate about its future, whilst lamenting that Bungie have probably screwed the pooch and killed the game, much to our shared disgust and frustration. I believe that Maven said it best in her goodbye video the other day. Paraphrasing :- “Destiny is the best looter shooter franchise ever made and nothing feels like this to play. “ I’m sad that D2 will probably die, but to all those that have helped me and I’ve helped over the years thank you for your company and it’s been fun whilst it lasted. Also to those people at Bungie who created the games and made the best expansions (TTK, Forsaken, WQ and TFS) and even Lightfall thank you for your passion and dedication. It’s a shame that the leadership let you down when you gave it your all.

I still do what I like to do in the game. I avoid what I no longer find enjoyable. Still though, things have gotten real stale. I spend more time out of bounds exploring than I do in activities.

I've gone back to playing old school D2: don't touch the portal, do some gambit, do some planet hopping and get triumphs I didn't care about before. That is still fun for me, but I'm not putting in the kind of time I did pre-EoF. I'll know when it's time to uninstall.

1 ReplyIts still fun meeting new people. Playing with new players. Helping them and all that.

Edited by Motorhead England: 3/14/2026 9:20:44 PMIf logging on counts as playing, my reasons are to see what Eververse is selling on Tuesday, to see what Xur is offering on Friday, and if I'm in the mood, to go find some free credits on the Tharsis Outpost. Thoughts: the game is almost dead Comments: see below Concerns: being scared to comment for fear of being attacked by shills

It's fun! I don't have to have some deep purpose to run portal activities, I just log in, shoot some stuff and log off. Great! I USED to be the "if it doesn't fit lorewise I'm out" guy, the "this doesn't have a purpose so I'm not going to do this content" guy as well. I like current me much better, he has a lot more fun playing video games in 2026.

It's still fun, also because friends.

I play purely out of habit now and play time has gone down to a few hours a week . I was ready to finish with final shape and used of but I got pulled into the hype .

22 RepliesLots of yall are the "why" kinda ppl... I'm the "why not" kinda person.. It's a vidya game. Lemme make this point.. it is a VIDEO game. The ENTIRE POINT is entertainment. Are you not entertained?!?! Change the dang channel... very simple. My concern is directed towards humanity. Not Destiny.

I like running strikes

Grinding transmog bounties mostly. Grinding Ferropotent armor for my Titan when matchmade activities are fast, such as Insight Terminus and the Empire Hunts. Obviously, my biggest concern is that the June update will be the last update for the game. I couldn't care less about what happens to Bungie, I just hope Sony has the sense to save the Destiny IP somehow.

I've spent too long farming all these God roll weapons to justify quitting. That's the only thing that keeps me playing. All my friends are banned. One got banned for poor connection while overseas on a military deployment and has been trying to appeal since and has gotten no response. That's been going on almost three years now. The other was playing Gambit and got mass reported by a streamer for wiping their entire team during an invasion with wisper of the worm. Gambit is full of crybabies

It's a good comfort game while I cycle through the backlog of games. I might not be in the mood for ff14 msq, or in the mood to play squads in Marathon. I've always got the entertainment of raid lfg to fall back on. My concern is only if that part dies off completely, I may not see much appeal as of current.

Still finalizing builds. The problem is RNG is so bad in this game I cant ever get the correct armor to maximize the builds potential. So I log on once every couple weeks. Farm for armor for an hour, dont get it. Log off and repeat in 2 weeks.

For me, a big part of it is the lore and story. I enjoyed the story through the Light and Darkness saga, and I am intrigued by the story so far in the Fate Saga, so I want to see where it goes next. Gameplay-wise, I admit I am about as casual as they come. I do play through Dungeons and Raids, but not as frequently as I would like. Furthermore, the daily gameplay loop is probably the simplest it has ever been. I log in, play two Portal Activities for the "B Great" objective, then go out into the world map to complete the Body Counting and This Orderly Conduct objectives, and then I am usually done for the day. During the long break, I plan to go back and play through older content, and complete older challenges I've left alone for a while, such as completing Dungeons solo without dying. Because truth be told, while we won't be getting new content for a while, there are still years' worth of older activities to revisit and play through, even ones where I might already have everything for them. ---------------------------------------------------- But my biggest concern is the Portal, which is shared by most of the community. Leveling up through Pinnacle rewards has always been a thing in Destiny 2, and pre-Edge of Fate had a system in place that ensured all activities could be played to gain Pinnacle rewards. Crucible, Vanguard, Gambit, Nightfalls, the new expansion Location, and the various Raids and Dungeons on a Rotator. That system gave players incentive to play what activities they chose for their Pinnacle drops, and incentive to revisit the older Raids and Dungeons currently on the Rotation, alongside the newest released Dungeon and Raid. What Edge of Fate did, what the Portal did, was excise 95% of the game from the primary gameplay loop. The Portal became the ONLY source of gear you can use to level up your power, and the only source of Tiered Weapons and Tiered Armor. Every other source of Powerful and Pinnacle Drops was removed entirely. Even Desert Perpetual, the newest raid, lacked Weekly Challenges that gave Powerful Gear drops for playing through the first time when it came out. In effect, someone at Bungie wanted the Portal to replace the entire rest of the game, and it backfired horribly. It's been small steps to alleviate that, but not enough and not quick enough. Even though I am looking forward to the changes coming in June to older Raids and Dungeons, I can only imagine how much better a place the game might have been in if said changes had shipped WITH Edge of Fate, instead of a year later, when the damage has already been done. The only good things to come from the Portal, I'd argue, are the Solo Ops playlist and the return of older Seasonal Activities. If the Portal has to remain in the game, decentralize the current gameplay loop, restore the old gameplay loop of Weekly Challenges and Weekly Rotations, and let the Portal be a hub for players to revisit and play old Seasonal Content. ------------------------------------------------------------- The June Update will need to resurrect the game and rebuild the old foundations. The changes to Raid and Dungeon Armor and Weapons sets are a massive undertaking on their own, covering 19 sets of armor per class, and at least 88 non-tiered Weapons across all of them (almost 100 if you count Shattered Throne and Pit of Heresy, which share weapons with their expansion locations). Converting all of those weapons to the Tiered System, and the potential for all the Armor Sets to receive Set Bonuses of their own, is no small feat. That's just one of the things we know so far. Bungie needs to tell us more if they want to bring back the players they're losing to the delay. At this point, a small part of me thinks they might be combining Shadow and Order with Shattered Cycle, because the above changes are comparable to, if not beyond, the changes we've seen to Weapons and Armor in Expansions past.

I would play destiny 2 in 2050 if i could but not portal the star wars tier loot with new armor stats and no bounties game , that people still call it destiny 2 is something i don't understand . I would never play it again if they would leave it like that wich they prob will . Destiny 2 is nothing but a memory now .. Sad , very sad .

Whenever my friends who still play the game want to raid, or if there’s something for bright dust that I really want. Other than that, I’ve no desire to login. The loot I want won’t be back in rotation for the foreseeable future and thats the gameplay loop the game is built on right now.

2 RepliesTeaching people raids. Raiding is the best part of the game and only reason I still play

I'll get back to you when one comes up.
