Whilst I agree the UI could do with some improvements... There exists 2 indicators that will help you loot and prepare quickly at a glance per the shell you're using and weapon loadout. When looting or in your vault, you'll see 2 icons respective this specificity. In the lower left, there's an indicator. [x] - Means you CAN'T use it; your currently equipped weapons can't use the attachments. [<-] - it looks like an arrow directing to an open door, means you CAN use it, your currently equipped weapons can use it. Hope this helps. And obviously the more you play, understand the shortcuts to swap and filter faster... will add to that.
