Gl with Marathon Bungie. Honestly hope it fails so that Destiny can be the main focus again if that’s even financially possible with the fall of marathon.

Edited by Speaker: 1/21/2026 10:49:30 PMMarathon wasnt made for you- it was made to capture new players. And it will.

8 RepliesFrom a corporate standpoint it makes sense.... It's cheaper advertise to a known audience and it will give a tangible number and level of interest from old IP to new it's a logical and business appropriate use of resources and time... If you don't like it don't buy it it's that's simple... complaining about it is free advertising for the product at no cost to the company in question... you just got hooked in to working for them for Free...

I'm not cheering for failure. Most of the people responsible for D2's failings already cashed out with a golden parachute. (Looking at you Pete) Marathon failing won't punish them, it will just harm the devs still working at Bungie. They didn't choose how Bungie allocated assets. They just did their assignments. However I have no plans to buy or play Marathon. Bungie has spent YEARS ignoring Crucible and Gambit and now they want to sell us a PvPvE extraction shooter? Really? They can't keep cheaters off console, much less PCs, but they want us to trust them with a pvp focused game? Sorry, but the old "I swear I've changed. This time will be different." Isn't going to work for a huge chunk of D2 players.

If marathon fails its more likely to be the end of bungie and destiny as they have no other incubation projects and are barely making money from destiny. Sony even admitted that bungie have been a let down. If it wasn't for being brought bungie would already be gone.

10 RepliesEdited by starcrest: 1/20/2026 10:35:33 PMFor those of us on old gen consoles, I doubt Marathon is going to push us to a console upgrade, so that's a big chunk of D2 players who won't be there at launch.

NOT buying ,playing, or even trying that trash looking game either.

3 RepliesI’m buying it. It looks pretty cool and fresh to me. So, I’ll give it a go.😁

4 RepliesEdited by THA_3rd_GUY: 1/20/2026 6:29:14 PMThe problem is predicting Sony's response to Marathon's inevitable failure. Bungie's already on thin ice with Sony. And if they fail a project that has lasted years and cost millions of dollars to make, you know Sony's not going to take that real well.

I’m not buying it. I did laugh when I saw Marathon in the in game Store > Expansions screen. 😂

3 RepliesCan lie, marathon looks like a free to play type game. We will see…

7 RepliesI refuse to buy "free range" chicken.

1 ReplyPart of me wants it to succeed for the devs that worked on it but I hope it is doa at the same time

12 Replieswe don't really know that if marathon fails bungie will going back to destiny, after all sony is pushing marathon
Honestly hope it fails so that Destiny can be the main focus again
If Marathon fails, Sony pulls the plug No game will be in focus, because no game will be online
