Keep having issues where my friend can’t seem to get anyone to stay in the clan because they just join for engrams. Kinda tired of that because she works hard and gets her posts constantly downvoted because people are just petty?? (Know the game is dead but that’s not the point)
Might be looking for a group for us. And no. I won’t read your copy pasta bs. Just means you see us as a number to your clan. Being number doesn’t really sit well with anyone. No mega clans either. That’s really weird to have 4k+ in your community but only the semi 20+ people actually play
Little information before you try inviting us:
We would prefer to play with all adults ONLY. We’re both adults ourselves…
We’re both located in North America so while the time zone location isn’t an issue it’s just if you have people on during those hours that we’re on. 10am - 1pm and 11pm - 2am CST (for her). And for me it’s just noon - 1pm and 12 am - 2 am EST.
This is what I ask you all to read. It’s highly recommended and important you do so for this peculiar reason….listen…and read.
So this has been deemed a public test to determine if clan founders/admins actually read what people post. If you read all of this. Congratulations. You care about the people you reach out too. But little note for my clan founders and admins. Stop reaching out to people. Spend your time focusing on your forum posting. 8 out of 10 people will leave when you just invite them and you see them asking for a clan in forums. It’s better when they reach out to you as they will actually read what you have to say. Those are the kinds of people who you wanna recruit. I’m not saying it’s illegal to reach out to anyone, just know most of those players don’t stay
Also there’s no spacing on purpose. It’s to see how much you take time to read what people say. You gotta have extreme patience and integrity for that too!
Cheers everyone:

https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/264825025/0/0 Brand new clan so no one is a number and I’m also NA. I welcome everyone to my clan and my focus is on raids but ofc everyone is welcome no matter what type of content they play. I’m also an adult. It seems like I check some of your boxes but as a brand new clan with only 1 member (lol) I completely understand everyone’s unwillingness to join until it gets built up a little

Hey there. I run a brand new late-night NA Destiny 2 clan called Ecdysis, which would fit your hours at night. We're chill but focused and looking for players who want to squad up, communicate and get things done. All game modes welcome. If that sounds like your vibe, hop into the Discord: https://discord.gg/MH2Av8Fdzf. Hope to see you there.

My issue with the state of these forums is how people just push posts down so their own flamboyant mega clan posts can stay at the top. So freaking toxic around here. No wonder I prefer solo.

Hi Korra, First off, thank you for your very thoughtful post. I don’t know who in the hell is downvoting your friend’s post, but that is so stupid. I just wanted to give a response here on my thoughts to your post, as I am VERY active on these forums day in and day out and see this stuff happening all the time in this community. Many clan leaders and admins know that there is an elitism and gatekeeping problem plaguing our community. Yet, still many clan leaders and admins fall into this cycle of gatekeeping themselves without often realizing it. I have seen it time and time again with clans wanting specifically only certain types of players and then when that new player doesn’t fulfill that they get kicked right away, or forcing people to use Discord day in and day out and the moment their lives get in the way, they get kicked from the clan. Or having a set performance standard and not meeting that. Now keep in mind this is absolutely valid. It is totally okay to have a certain type of player base in mind (lowman—Endgame, PvP endgame, etc.) and then build around this. This is essentially what clans are for. I’d also argue that many clans thrive and are successful because they are gatekeepers specifically for the type of player and the type of hardcore, endgame team/community they are trying to build. Not all clans are made for everybody and it’s as simple as that. Some people just want a casual easy-going experience and others want the hardcore raid day 1 lowman experience. That’s absolutely valid and those experiences shouldn’t be taken away from anyone. It is also okay to have strict Discord rules, as let’s be real, Discord is the main source for communication on Destiny—the Destiny App “Clan Chat” is practically useless if you want real communication and to build a community around your people. The problem is, that these clans should make it more apparent and more widely known, especially when recruiting, that this is what they are looking for. They should also be honest about the current situation their clan is in (dead, barely alive, rebuilding, etc.) and if their players are truly active and committed to helping out new lights or those just coming back to the game after a long hiatus. I’m gonna be honest here that I’ve been a part of these clans time and time again. And I have been both a leader and an admin. I also did a interesting little “test” similar to this on the forums one weekend…see I started a clan with a buddy of mine and I wanted to do a little social experiment on these forums. So, I created an honest and thoughtful, very welcoming and friendly recruitment post—no copy paste, no spam, nothing, and I just waited and let people come to my post to see what would happen. Soon, within minutes, I had people upvoting my post, people asking to join the clan citing “how refreshing” my clan post wasn’t just some “copy pasta” or some bait to get numbers. I also specifically focused on citing that we want “real people, not numbers” and we want “players from all walks of life”. I specifically included a VERY specific time zone range we were looking for, included a short list of PvP and PvE activities we do and would be willing to help with. This DID NOT include lowmans or raid day 1s because I don’t do those things and I was honest about that and was not going to market myself as some super amazing endgame player when I just am not that. But all of this wasn’t enough—I took it a step further. I would also go under each person’s post who I was potentially interested in recruiting and pick something from their post that was personal, say the part where they talk about being in a certain timezone or being a dad or being a student, and I would respond to their post directly citing that and then providing a reason for why they should join my clan and why I think WE would be a great fit for each other. The result: I had roughly around 30 people who wanted to join the clan within a matter of a day. Within the weekend alone, around 60 people had asked to join the clan. My take-away: honesty truly is the best policy when it comes to recruitment, as cliche as that sounds. Too many clans are NOT honest about their clans in their recruitment process. Too many clans copy paste the same BS over and over again and expect people to just come flocking in like it’s nothing. That’s unrealistic and that sets up unrealistic and unreasonable standards and expectations both for the clan recruiting and for the guardians they are copy/pasting underneath their posts, which they CLEARLY do not even bother to read. You have to put in the work and effort to build up a great clan/community, if that’s want you want. And same goes for if you are a person trying to get recruited by a clan. Hell, I will admit that I am a part of a clan now that I feel does some gatekeeping in its own way, but it’s only because our leader and the admin team really do want a “social” clan environment and want everyone to bond together—and so far, we’ve dealt with everything a typical clan goes through when rebuilding/starting new—clan hoppers, inactive members, members who join for one day/one week and then leave, members who complain about Discord, etc. The thing that matters though, is I know that we try and be as honest as possible in our recruitment posts. But even then, in this community, sometimes that’s just not enough. Why? Because honesty goes BOTH ways. See, this whole time I’ve talked about how clans can be more honest with players they are recruiting, but what about the players we are actively working to try and recruit? Too many times, players themselves are NOT honest with the clan that is recruiting them or with themselves. So, if you’ve read this far, for the players out there trying to be recruited, I urge you: Imagine the kind of player you want to be, think about the work/effort you are willing to put in to becoming a better player and then manifest that, through being honest and upfront with that clan that you might be interested in joining. That honesty will go a long way. Also, be willing to join multiple clans if you need to in order to find your home here in the world of Destiny. Clan hopping is only bad when you are literally just hopping from clan to clan over and over again for the sake of messing with those clans. But let’s be real everybody—we’ve all done some clan hopping or clan creation and then disbanding—in order to try and find, or build, our homes in this community. It’s normal and it happens and it honestly should be expected. In closing I will say this: Nobody, and I mean nobody at all benefits from dishonesty. You will only end up shooting yourselves in the foot—whether you are the one trying to be recruited or you are the one doing the recruitment. Do yourselves a favor and be honest with yourselves and each other. Toxicity and elitism will always be a part of any gaming community. Clan hopping will always be a thing. A little bit of honesty from all of us though can go a long way and can help make these forums a little less toxic and elitist, especially for new or returning players. Thanks for listening and sharing your thoughts and experiences. I hope we can all keep an open and honest dialogue with each other about this. See you all star-side. :) —Magics ——————————————— P.S., Korra, my buddy and I game during the late night times you and your friend are on. If you would like, feel free to add me and we can definitely game together! :)

So nice to see humans being human in this forum. Sometimes I wonder if I’m just fighting against bots in the constant war of clan against clan for the right to speak to another human about playing video games with them. I run a UK/EU clan and it’s been a part of my life for 12 years. It’s had its ups and downs, people come in all shapes and sizes and destiny has its lulls but the thing that always keeps me going is the thought of meeting that new member that spices up the clan and brings some community. Such a nice read, thankyou Korra for a humbling post and best of luck finding that destiny home.

I'm neither the clan leader nor an admin, but if you want... you can join the itsy-bitsy group I'm with. The only ones who play regularly are, well... me and sometimes my friend (who only gets on around 10 PM or so). My friend owns The Final Shape while I have everything except that.

Recruitment is a pain honestly 😂 but there are clans like we are. Anyway talk with Alex and just join our discord as a guest and you will see with your own eyes how we do stuff ( you will be able to join activities too). But I'm not going to bs and if you people decide to join then just be there like it is a 🅿️ spot.. sorry it not going to work lol

Hi Korra! I'm surprised this post hasn't already been answered with copy/paste ad for clans. Hopefully people will take the time to read your post as it's kinda how i felt last time I was looking for a clan. Hard to find that special one where I can really play and chat with clanmates. If you really think of you joining a new clan, you can check out mine and/or DM me. With both EU and US players (almost 50/50), we have several timezones covered for any activities except pvp (we barely play any in the clan). We're 80-ish and admin team is making sure the roster remains active within the clan (it ain't a parking spot for engrams or LFG). Thanks for reading. Cheers, Alexen
