Isn't that kind of like what the Duality Exotic shotgun does?

  • I didn't even consider Duality at the time of this post, but even Duality is still technically using the same ranges as pellet and slug shotguns. The only thing that changes there is the precision damage for the slugs if you get kills with the pellets. Chaperone is similar to Duality minus the need for pellet kills and that it's a kinetic weapon. And both of those shotguns' effects are instant as long as you meet the conditions. I'd want the Universal Remote to be a pellet shotgun through-and-through, and due to the nature of pellet shotguns, their randomness and how shotguns are typically used, that's where my idea for it came from. I imagine it to be situational. And it would be a special weapon. I need to clarify that in the post.

Wasn't Universal Remote a primary ammo weapon?

  • Good question, I honestly don't remember. If that was the case though, can you imagine what it would be like in PvP having a primary ammo shotgun? Yeesh.

If it means getting NLB back I'll take that deal every time.

  • My memory is a bit hazy about D1 since I didn't spend remotely as much time playing that as I have D2; NLB?

No Land Beyond was an extremely low zoom primary ammo sniper rifle with a very slow bolt action reload per round. Since it being in the primary slot meant you could only pair it with a special weapon (shotgun/fusion/sniper/sidearm, I believe we're the only options), it had a natural limiter in how rounded your load out would be. Obviously in d2 where you don't have primaries and specials in different slots, it would be quite the task to reintroduce No Land Beyond. Maybe force pair it with a very short range sidearm or something. Good times...

  • I think I saw a post recently where someone was asking Bungie to reintroduce that particular sniper; you perhaps?

No, I gave up in that hope years and years ago. But maybe now that they're seemingly throwing everything and the kitchen sink at us... Though I doubt it, it would be hard to adjust to the d2 sandbox I suspect.

  • If I knew how to search for specific posts, I'd look it up but I'm almost certain I saw someone asking for its return within the last week or so.
