They will not retroactively add the perk to any weapon that was obtained prior to when the Origin Trait is added to the game.

While it would be nice if existing weapons would be grandfather in with the new trait, I feel it would just be a huge problem waiting to happen with the incoming update and let's be honest - Bungie has not had the best track record of late when comes to these large updates, so I don't trust them.
