One of these bungie has remained mostly silent on and turned a blind eye while the other has gotten a definite NO due to fear of an undesirable game play loop. While these seem likely wildly different things, realistically they are the same since people only do paid carries for loot.
Between the two, the one allowed to persist is also the most dangerous as it uses real currency and sometimes requires sharing sensitive information such as account passwords and emails. Although rare I do occasionally see posts or hear about dumber gamers paying other gamers to log into their account and complete activities, only to have their accounts stolen.
By comparison in game loot trading/selling would be much safe and fair as bungie could easily make an in game tab that let's you post/search gear and let you choose the desired in game currency or gear for the trade. They could even add it to the companion app. Additionally they could even add restrictions such as, must clear this activity once to buy/trade gear that drops from it.
For example if you wanted the scout from DCS, but it never drops you could buy it from someone so long as you have 1 account clear.
They could even put suggested prices or price limits. As for currency they could open it to straight weapon trades, upgrade materials, planet materials, glimmer, shards, ect. Then you could search based on weapon archetypes & damage type, activity, or simply by selecting someone your in a fireteam with and choosing trade option. I'd even be open to trading random rolled exotics so long as they completed the quest once or have that piece of armor unlocked.

Edited by RhinoSpaz: 10/29/2021 6:45:30 PMI made tens of thousands of dollars in the late 1990's doing this with EverQuest. I could see them doing it if you could buy an item from someone using SILVER ... that way Bungie makes all the money. So I buy 5,000 SILVER then buy your Xeno for that SILVER.

"Selling god roll Riiswalker, $200"

People would just charge real money for a weapon/armor trade so this solution wouldn’t fix anything If I have gotten multiple Vex’s and you want one, but I want more than just in-game currency, I could charge you whatever you’d be willing to pay for it. After we’d come to an agreement and the money goes from you to me, then I’d trade you for whatever in-game currency is required. If the fact that people get money for loot is what bothers you, then what you’re suggesting is literally no different than carries and recovs.

Edited by XxSkull FistxX: 10/29/2021 5:01:19 AMLet’s not forget all the cheating in Comp and Trials where the same turds are doing it every week. Players that aren’t cheating get all their ranks taken away. Cheaters don’t get any punishment and instead they get rewarded with adept weapons! Thanks Bungie for taken away all my ranks when it’s Bungie fault.

Sounds to me like you just want easy loot and you’re either too poor to pay for a carry or too scared of getting banned/stolen/defrauded. We don’t need trading. We don’t need what is already a problem to be made into a more socially acceptable problem. People will pay for carries regardless if there’s in game trading or not and they’ll still figure out ways to monetize it. Just look at Diablo 2. Ads all over eBay for loot.

1 ReplyOr… or. Bungle simply takes out the majority of garbage rolls on weapons and ACTUALLY make it a guarantee to raid exotics in just a few FULL clears. But bungle doesn’t care. They don’t want trading they want players grinding out played hours. This game has always been a grind fest.

It won't ever happen...trading would kill the game.... We already have issues with paid carry and recovery ...now they would just straight up well the item ...even if their a cost in game

I would say to trade a normal legendary Weapon/Armor piece from the world loot pool you would need, That weapon/Armor piece to have dropped ONCE before on your account, 5,000 Glimmer, 25 legendary Shards, And 4 Enhancement Cores. That is to trade a normal legendary Weapon/Armor piece. DISCLAIMER NO EXOTICS OF ANY KIND MAY BE TRADED. For a Raid Weapon/Armor piece you would need, that Weapon/Armor Piece to have dropped ONCE and a FULL raid completion, 20 Spoils of Conquest, 10,000 Glimmer, 50 Legendary Shards, 2 Enhancement Prisms, And 4 Enhancement Cores Per Weapon/Armor Piece

1 ReplyEdited by Mara Sov’s Step Bro: 10/28/2021 7:19:20 AMNo. Doing this just creates even more unfair acquisitions. Many people may abuse carries but not everyone does. This also diminishes the player experience. People will almost ALWAYS take the path of least resistance. If I can just trade for something - why bother doing the content. I’m sure as hell never giving anyone my login info to pilot my account for anyone or paying real money for any kind of carry regardless. It’s the developers job to craft an experience for the player and easily accessible trading diminishes that experience. A prime example of a governing body over something - you remember when weed was illegal? It was thrilling because it was “bad”. It was part of the “experience”. Now it’s legal and you know what? Fewer people actually care about it. There is a large portion of young people that don’t see the allure to it because it isn’t illegal - because it isn’t something that’s been restricted on them. Making things difficult adds to the experience of something thrilling. Experiences are about the journey not the destination.

3 RepliesYou can’t really use “risks” as an example of how dangerous recoveries can be and then suggest the ability to trade items. The second they allow items to be traded there’s going to be online marketplaces. And people will get scammed. It will be no different then how people get scammed on CSGO for items/skins. Personally I have nothing against recoveries. Yes there’s the risk to the buyer but that’s on the buyer and how he chooses to do business.

Between the two, the one allowed to persist
Paid carries and paid recoveries are not allowed and Bungie bans people for doing paid carries and recoveries. It’s impossible to completely rid the game of these services since they only exist because people are willing to pay for them. And there will always be people willing to pay for those services.
