Because the gear from The Dreaming City is from Year 2 of the game. The gear from The Moon is from Year 3.
So while one can argue that the loot pools should have been refreshed (once a century pandemic, working from home), the gear was appropriately sunset.
No other loot game would still let you take gear from TWO expansions in the past, and then LEVEL IT UP to be relevant for current content. That is GAME-BREAKING, and Bungie finally was forced to admit that it was, and stop allowing us to do it.

"YoU aRe pAYinG fOr AcCeSs NoT CoNtEnT" and thats wack as hell. Yeah right every year a new content drop happens were paying for "access"
-
If you can’t resell it, it isn’t yours. That’s the point he is making.
-
Edited by TheArtist: 12/23/2020 4:19:11 AMThat is true. 1. That’s how intellectual property law works. 2. You might want to read the contract you signed. You purchased a license to play Bungie’s game. Nothing more. It’s how they can ban you for cheating. They revoke you license to play the game for violating the terms of the agreement. Might want to get your facts straight before you start mocking people....
-
I'm aware of the contract im saying its anticonsumer as hell to say this isn't your content that you paid for we can remove it whenever. If thats the case the game should be a full on subscription with a base level price where you pay for access. Every expansion costs money. The price fluctuates based on the size of the expansion meaning you are in fact paying for content but it isn't yours to keep. You pay for "access" to the content. But the price still changes depending on how much content so I think its wrong to make us pay to get through a barrier during a content drop instead of us owning the dlc which makes way more sense for a game that is not a subscription based game.

No it isn’t. And I’m tired of people throwing that word around everytime they don’t get what they want. The LAW gives the creators of all creative works to protect their work. So they can make money from selling access to it without having to sell away the work itself. With out it all forms of professional entertainment media would disappear. A game dev changing their game to improve the experience of playing it is not anti-consumer. CDPR HIDING the fact that Cyberpunk looked like crap and ran like crap on last Gen consoles by forbidding reviewers to show what the game actually looked like until after release and they had people’s money for a broken game? That’s anti-consumer Ford Motors selling the 1974 Pinto knowing that it had a major design flaw that would cause the gas tank to rupture and the car to catch on FIRE if it got rear-ended? That is anti-consumer. Selling dangerous or defective products? That’s anti-consumer. Engaging in anti-competitive practices (Apple) so that you can get away with seeking a poorer product? That is anti consumer. Nothing that Bungie is doing is anti-consumer by any reasonable definition of that term.
-
I think paying for dlc you dont own is anti consumer thats where we disagree.
-
No. It shows that I know the law and you don’t. It shows I read the contract that I signed and understand what I actually bought, and you didn’t. You don’t own any parts of the game, and if you try to make any money off it with out Bungie’s permission ( like the people selling hacks) you’d better get a good lawyer. You’ll need him or her.
-
It maybe the law ,but it doesnt make it right. Its a loophole in Bungies case, they can do whatever they want, even dictate how we should play the game. Its in there right ,but it isnt always a fun experience . COVID isnt helping either, but isnt why this is going the direction it is going. For me it looks like they gave up on Destiny ,just gave it enough to survive another season. Bringing old content/ gear back isnt something i look forward to either ,bin there done that kind a deal. And this happend far to much in the past already, to find it amusing anymore. Cheers
-
Then change the law. Until then, Bungie’s in their rights. But careful what you wish for. You may kill the Goose That Lays The Golden Eggs...only to realize to late that there is no gold inside. Interfere with the ability to make money commensurate with the risk and cost of making video games? Especially AAA games? They’ll go away.
-
I know they are in there right, but that doesn’t automaticly means they are on the right track. For me it just feels there not giving there all,I get that COVID Is a major problem ,and working on a different game makes it also harder to keep up. All and all It’s just a shame that Destiny suffers by all of this. Cheers.
-
Different argument.
-
Hahahahaha yeah I'm totally just gonna profit off the game somehow man. Like how are you this dense I don't get it. When you buy a game you should be able to own it. The law😂 ok Matt Murdock
-
Edited by TheArtist: 12/23/2020 5:10:25 AMI’m not dense. I’m the only person here with a -blam!-ing clue what he’s talking about. You don’t know the law, and signed a contract that you clearly didn’t read. So you have no idea what it actually was that you bought. I’m actually telling you what you agreed to and what your money actually bought you, and you reaction is to stand there and mock me? And you call me dense? While you act like it’s Bungie’s job to parent you, and it’s anti consumer if they don’t? Wow. Mind blown a second time. I’m not dense. I actually READ the software license that I bought. I also know intellectual property law because I’ve had two pieces of music that I wrote copyrighted. Which would give me the legal right to charge people money for the permission to play that music without selling the music itself. Those royalties would not give those people ownership of my creative work. Your $40 doesn’t give you ownership of Bungie’s work. Period.
-
You're mad that I think it is anti consumer to strip content from the game and not replace it with a fair amount. Like you cant fathom that some people think its scummy how bungie prices their content so high and only deliver small pieces. The amount of content in the game right now is not good. Last season you could do pit of heresy and get powerful rewards. Now you cant. That's stupid. I wish I could do that dungeon and have it be worth my time and at my level but nope.
-
Yeah Luke Smith showed up at my house and robbed me man true story.
-
Then I suggest you call the police....
-
I suggest you stop defending literally everything bungie does for no reason. If you had an argument other than wah wah covid I'd take you seriously. But bungie has done so much scummy shit over the years its not even funny. From the beginning of destiny bungie has always been doing shady shit. Scrapping Joe Statens story and firing Marty O donnel. Those are two things you cant blame activision for.. Theyre not a good company. Jason Jones and Luke Smith are not good.
-
Why should I stop doing something that I’ve never done? I’m actually a fairly harsh critic of Bungie. But I am a FAIR critic. And insisting that their work shouldn’t be affected by a global health disaster that is preventing them from working normally is so ridiculously unfair that words almost fail me. “Oh that leg is broken? Quit crying and get up and walk that pain off!!”
-
Quit talking in hyperbole and just accept that it wouldn't be hard to change the level of the pit of heresy. Its a design choice. Its not because of the pandemic. They chose to make those activities not worth doing. You cannot convince me otherwise.
-
Edited by TheArtist: 12/23/2020 4:33:27 AMI’m not speaking in hyperbole. You are speaking from a position of narcissistic entitlement. COVID 19 has killed 1.6 million people worldwide. But that’s not the whole story. For every person that dies, there are 2 or 3 people who are made sick enough to wind up in ICUs on breathing machines. It’s why intensive care beds are running dangerously low across the US. For every person that dies, up to 10 people are made sick enough to have to be admitted to the hospital. It’s why hospital beds are dangerously low and people with other illness are seeing their treatment delayed so that resources are available to treat people with COVID. As a result of measures to try to slow the spread of the virus and keeping the health care system from collapsing under a flood of sick people, we’re seeing rates of joblessness that haven’t been seen since The Great Depression. So I’m sorry that your gaming has been inconvenienced...and you haven’t gotten everything you want. Because the Third Horseman of the Apocalypse—-Pestilence—-has been let loose on the world for the last 15 months. Sorry but we’ve been a little busy.
-
Lmao get off your high horse its pathetic. As if everyone doesn't already know all of that. You really think a tiny design choice like making a number higher on an activity would destroy the studio? Like how do you think they made all that shit for beyond light? They did a good job with all of that. They're obviously capable of doing one small thing. Youre trying to act as if I'm one of these virus deniers or some shit. Everyones affected by the virus. Obviously. Like no shit. But bungie is doing ok. They're not shutting down. They've been working pretty hard. So obviously they made a design choice to not up the level of the nightmare hunts and the dungeons and shit. Nothing you said is really relevant to bungies situation. They're all social distancing working from home. Its not like the studios on fire.
-
Edited by TheArtist: 12/23/2020 4:50:00 AMWow. Just wow. 🤯
-
Oh wow you are so intimidating. 🙁
-
Edited by Hardrive2677: 12/23/2020 4:00:44 AMHOW DO YOU CONTRACT AN ILLNESS WHEN WORKING FROM HOME???? You are absolutely ridiculous. Should they stop making the game all together? You really believe they didn't raise the levels of the old activities because of COVID lmao😂😂 its a design choice not something they didn't have resources for you fool.
-
Hahaha so youre cool with the moon and dreaming city loot just being totally worthless right now? 😂😂
