Devastating Insult walks down the path, grumbling something about Inquiry and her weird fascination with OffTopic.

[spoiler]Chain 3[/spoiler] Through the treeline ahead you spy a large camp.
-
Inquiry stalks forward, keeping to the shadows, and scouts around look for signs of the Nightmares.

The camp ahead is built across the road, within a mountain pass. Log fences and fortifications surround the perimeter, with small gaps where they meet the cliffsides. A few effigies of wood and bone are scattered about aswell. A large fire in the center sends a plume of smoke above. You can also hear the beating of drums and chanting in a foreign language coming from the same direction. Two strange warriors clad in furs, leathers, bones, and bits of wood guard the entrance. One armed with a simple spear and hide shield, the other with an odd rifle...

Inquiry slowly walks toward the camp with her hands up. [quote]Hello! Who might you all be?[/quote]

They turn to you and raise their weapons.

The guard shoots at you! The bullets glow with the same violet light and seem to curve toward you midair!

You manage to deflect the bullets and they spread out, seeking small animal's startled by the sudden gunfire. The spearman approaches and prepares to jab at you!

[spoiler]Ok, cool[/spoiler] Insult spins around hurling the knife she stole toward the sound, while keeping the Sharp Mind at her back.

The knife embeds into the trunk of a tree right next to a large, round face, with gray skin and three pairs of pale eyes. It smiles at you, revealing rows of needle-like teeth...

Insult telekinetically lifts the coins off the bodies and hurls them toward the creature. [spoiler]Also, Sharp Mind description: A blade formed from concentrated psionic energy that strikes at a creature's mind rather than its body. Has a throwing range of 20/60 feet and deals psychic damage.

The coins strike the beast and it emerges from the woods! The creature appears blurry, as if your eyes refuse to focus upon it for too long. What you can make out is that the creature is large and thin with a gray, vaguely feline body. It is mostly hairless with patches of long fur, and lashing tendrils along its spine. It has three sets of pale eyes and six exaggerated limbs ending with curved talons. The Nightmare smiles as it begins to slowly circle you...

The Nightmare leaps over the first blade and you hear a yelp as the second connects! Then it skitters around you, slashing once at your chest and again at your back!

Insult pushes off the ground and hovers, spinning around and attempting to lob a Truth Bomb at the Nightmare. [spoiler]Truth Bomb: Those struck with a Truth Bomb have their minds filled briefly with awful, maddening truths. Range 60 feet Deals psychic damage[/spoiler]

Your bomb passes through the creature and its form dissipates, reappearing a few feet away, lunging at you with its jaws wide!

Insult immediately kills her hover and drags both blades across the creature's belly as it leaps over her.

You drop down and slash across its chest as it passes! The Nightmare lands and growls, then unleashes an ear piercing scream!

Insult half covers her ears and rolls away, then pulls a large branch toward herself and smacks the Nightmare with it like a club.

The Nightmare catches the branch and snaps it, snickering. You notice wisps of dark smoke leaking from its wounds...
