Xi and Lambda are moving outside, the latter levitating, looking forward with a blank emotionless stare, and the former walking, while looking very annoyed staring down at what appeared to be a shopping list.
“I don’t see how going shopping is supposed to help get control of my-“
[SYSTEM ERROR]
Xi suddenly stumbles to the side, collapsing through the door and onto the ground. Lambda follows in after, and looks down at him.
“Number 14?”
[Dissonance detected, attempting to restabilize]
[Restabilization complete, welcome back Ξ-14]
“Ugh..” Xi pulled himself up. “Lambda? What just happened?”
“. . .”
English
-
“Holy shit!” Blaze vaults the bar, and runs over, “Hey, are you ok?!”
-
“I think so.. That’s happened a couple times now, but Kokonoe has said it’s nothing to worry about..” Xi finishes pulling himself to his feet.” Lambda continues staring in silence. “My name’s-“ He pauses for a moment. “Xi. Or 14 if you’d prefer. And you’re Blaze, right? I think I remember you.”
-
“Blaze’s the name, bar’s the game. Hm, that name you said sounds familiar... wait..... are you.....that dude I ran through with a rapier? Uhhh, right! Are you Aifos?”
-
“Well, sheesh, you picked that up fast. Most people haven’t been able to recognize me. Don’t worry, though, no hard feelings! I was possessed by the Skull Heart, I get it! You did what you had to.”
-
“Heh, yeah, Skullheart you was dumb, gave me a perfect opportunity. I’m just glad you’re alive.”
-
“Negative.” Lambda chimed in. “Neither Number 14, or myself are ‘alive’. These bodies are mechanical, and by extension are inorganic.” “Yeah, that sounds about right. I’m still getting used to it. You would think it wouldn’t feel that different, seeing as how these bodies are still modeled after humans, but it’s actually a lot harder to mive around!”
-
“Eh, shut up.” Blaze says to Lambda. “Yeah, going from flesh to metal does seem like it would be...odd.” Blaze says to Xi, “any clue why you keep falling over?”
-
“Dissonance, whatever that means. I just get a big system error, and then I get some message about restabilizing. It’s kinda vague, though. Kokonoe says it’s nothing to worry about. She’ll probably have it sorted out in no time.” “. . .” “You probably went through the same thing when Kokonoe reactivated you, right, Lambda?” “Negative.”
-
“Hm. Maybe it’s due to you having a human soul? I....need to think for a moment.” Blaze closes his eyes, still listening, but also trying to block out everything but sound to think.
-
“That seems like a pretty big oversight. Kokonoe would’ve taken that into account.” “Affirmative. The original Boundary Interface Prime Field Device Number 14 was specifically modified with the intention of accepting Aifos’ soul.”
-
“Wait, I just thought of something. Do you feel like you are missing a part of yourself?”
-
“A part of myself? Well.. No. i don’t think so. I’m not entirely sure what you mean, though.”
-
“A week or two ago, a lady calling herself ‘Six’ appeared in my ship. She said about finding you, and that your half of...soul, I think? Anyways, your half of soul ‘abandoned her’ so she was looking for you. Sounds like maybe missing your girly half is what’s causing this.”
-
So, wait, there’s some girl named Six hunting me down because she says she’s missing her other half? I don’t have a stalker, do I..?” “No such being appears within our database.” Lambda said. “It does sound a little far fetched.. Where did you meet her, exactly?”
-
“Oh you think that’s far fetched? I met her on my ship while in ORBIT. Don’t ask me how, dont believe me if you want, that’s what happened.”
-
The two were silent for a moment, before Lambda spoke up. “Given the available evidence, it is most likely that Six was some sort of hallucination. Possibly caused by a malfunction in your ship’s ventilation systems.” “Hold on, let’s not dismiss it immediately. We can breathe in space, right? And all PFD units are female by default. And she’s calling herself Six, right? So, maybe..” “Negative. All PFD units are currently offline except for Numbers 11, 12, 13, and 14.”
-
“Well, she was human, and considering I live in my ship, I would know if something is off, so I’m telling you, Six is real, and she might be able to help with your problem. She was also wearing an eyepatch I believe.
-
“Well, I guess if she’s real we’ll run into her sooner or later, ri-“ [SYSTEM ERROR] Xi collapses without so much as a warning. “Soul dissonance detected.” Lambda said.
-
“Holy shit! Are you ok?!”
-
Xi doesn’t respond. He looks lifeless, and it wouldn’t be much of a stretch to mistake him for dead. Lambda’s head beeps. “Lambda, do you copy?” A voice said. “Affirmative.” “Things aren’t looking great on my end. I’m assuming Aifos is out?” “Affirmative. Number 14 is currently unresponsive.” “Thought so. I need you to hook him up to a monitor for me.” “Understood. Blaze, requesting permission of a monitor.”
-
“2 seconds.” Blaze runs back to the bar and hits a button. His ship lands outside and Blaze runs in, grabs a monitor, and runs out to Lambda.
-
Lambda moved Xi’s limp body into a sitting position, and tossed his hair over his shoulders, before opening a panel on his back. After running a few wires from the open panel to the monitor, an image began to flicker on screen. The voice spoke out from Lambda’s radio again. “What you’re going to see on there are the memories within Xi-14, strongest ones first. Keep an eye out for any memories that don’t belong to Aifos.” “Understood.”
-
“Why would he have... nevermind, let’s watch.”
-
The very first thing you see is Papika, standing in front of him with her shield raised. Only, she looks different than how you saw her. Her back was open wide, with a blue flame leaking out, and the Skull Heart clearly exposed. Across from her is a sinister looking man, who begins to laugh. “I’ll admit, I underestimated you, and the Skull Heart. But I still have one more trick up my sleeve.” A bright red light appeared in the sky. “The Gigant: Takemikazuchi!” Papika put up her shield—strengthened by the Skull Heart’s power. But it still wasn’t enough. The laser shattered it into pieces, sending both Aifos and Papika crashing to the ground, both too weak to fight back. The man walked over to Aifos, and ripped the amulet from his neck. “This belongs to me, now.” Papika hit the ground angrily, and when she opened her eyes, her irises had been replaced by red skulls. “No it’s not!” She yelled, as a huge shadow appeared behind her. It grabbed the man with its gargantuan hands, and the two began flying up into the air. “Papika?” You heard Aifos’ voice say. The two began to glow, as they soared up into the air, and then that glow erupted into an explosion. “Papika!” Aifos yelled again. “Papika!” The screen began to flicker, and went to static.
-
“Hm. Anything look weird to you science lady?” Blaze asks.
