"One of the best and most prolific players" ... He has the same stats that I do and no one on this thread has heard of him lmao.
He says he isn't struggling with SBMM but dude is barely positive in clash and supremacy this season after having a 2.35 and 1.92 kd for both of those playlists before sbmm was added. He said he used to have 70-kill games but his best is 52. He was probably talking about defeats which is misleading.
Change the title to "I found some random above average player on YT with barely 1k subs that agrees with me on SBMM and therefore the 90% of good players that disagree are lying" because we all know that's how you really feel.

Guy was using bygones and mindbenders the easiest loadout to master as well lol

No. What he understands is that SBMM renders stat farming moot. Your only going to rack up KDs of 2 and 3 in CBMM environment when the game is serving you up weaker players to dominate. In SBMM, your going to be facing players of your own level of skill so you are going to “revert to the mean”. Iow your going tend to lose half the gunfights. It’s why when you look at pro sports teams, must teams in the league are going to finish around an equal number of wins and losses——-.500. But the reality is you want a game that is going to maintain a large player base, CBMM is not the way to go. CBMM only provides a good experience for those at the top of the pyramid.... and everyone else gets a boot in the face. You could get away with that 15 years ago. But today there are too many other games, and too many other entertainment options. Give someone a miserable experience and they are going to quit your game and go do something else. And the game rots from the bottom up, and the experience for everyone suffers. Of course, those at the top are last to be impacted by it, which is why the selfish among the advocate so hard for CBMM.

Better play should be rewarded with better stats, not better competition.
-
They cant improve so they dont want to see others improve either
-
They want Bungie to tune their matchmaking for players who are not good and not improving. I think the top 5% should never see the bottom 5%, but I guarantee that none of those players even read this thread.
-
Edited by Haunter: 1/7/2020 11:38:26 PMThey think under cbmm the top 5% are somehow in every game exclusively matched vs the bottom tier when statistically the chance of them matching up even once is what? 1/20 matches?
-
Spoken like someone who doesn’t like to actually compete. In the eyes of people who love competition, your statement is 100% backwards. Getting to play better players IS the reward.
-
Youd be right - if we were talking about competitive playlists. This logic is completely backwards with regard to social modes
-
As long as the connection is good
-
Most of the people -blam!- about SBMM aren’t having connection problems. And for them there is Classic Mix. Which has CBMM.
-
You hardly play pvp
-
Classic mix still has sh1t connection
-
So, you want to be insulated in your low skill bubble? Why not play everyone?
-
Edited by TheArtist: 1/7/2020 8:43:07 PMSays the guy who is defending his right to bear up on people who can’t fight back? The point of competition is that both participants have a reasonable chance to win.
-
When will you two stop claiming that anyone against your SBMM route are just K/D stat farmers? Label people way too much dude. It’s why I literally have problems with you guys and your POV. But let’s keep changing the game to appease your POV, by all means.
-
When did I say anyone. Take your time. I can wait while you try to find it.
-
You literally do it all the time. You did it in this very back and forth with the Guardian you are having this back and forth with. It’s all in the way you word things.
-
No. I don’t. You need to read more carefully. I’m a stickler for choosing my words precisely.
-
You labeled me as someone who likes to beat up on people who can’t fight back. You did this in you first reply. You have no idea who I am or how good or bad I am at pvp. You could care less about those things, you just want to ramrod you’re opinions through and discredit and disrespect anyone who disagrees.
-
What I said, and how you decided to interpret it aren’t the same thing.
-
Regardless... I think the verdict is in. Your ideas about tuning the matchmaking settings for people who are not pvp mains, are not good at the game, and don’t care about improving are quite unpopular, as is evidenced by the negative ratings on the original post. As they have been... every... single... time...
-
That’s your opinion. The reality is the game can’t serve two masters. The game can’t provide a good experience for average players AND provide the experience that those in the Top 10% who simply want to farm weaker players want at the same time. Those who are genuinely concerned about connection quality have Classic Mix. And based on Smith’s Directors Cut, sounds like Bungie is picking the average player. It provides the best experience to the largest number of players, and reduces the barrier to entry for new players. Which is why SBMM is becoming the industry standard for online competitive gaming.

Edited by abyssasylum: 1/8/2020 3:46:58 PMYou did it AGAIN! I’m not a top player. I’m not even top 25%. I don’t want to farm k/d, and find it annoying when people do that. All I’m saying is that artificially manipulating the matchmaking to try to improve “experience” always has unintended consequences. As a just slightly above average player, I don’t fit your narrative. Bungie has gone down the SBMM rabbit hole previously, and they are doing it again, which is unfortunate. All it does is drive good players, and players who want to be rewarded for their improvement, away.
-
I really don’t care what level player you are. Or think you are. I’m talking about a fundamental game design issue. And Bungie tried forcing everyone into a CBMM lobby last year and the result was disastrous. Which is why SBMM is back in the game, and odds are it’s here to stay.
-
Edited by abyssasylum: 1/8/2020 3:58:08 PMThank you for reminding us, but we already know this. We know you could care less about others experience or viewpoint. You got your artificial safe place back and you are happy now. You can now coast along with all the new players just learning to move and maintain your 1.0. Enjoy.
