Good post Sols. I totally agree about the status of the crucible, in terms of it being very good right now, especially when it comes to weapon diversity. There are a lot of good weapons in every slot and for every archetype(I wish autos were a bit better).
However, I do take one issue with your premise, the assertion that all people that talk about having latency issues as a result of SBMM are lying. I have a router with geo filtering and I can illustrate very easily that SBMM Will grab out of region players far more frequently. Not to be a condescending jerk, but Ping really does matter man. The Internet is not magic, There are a lot of moving parts at play.
For whatever reason, you are not experiencing this, I cannot assume that you are lying. You are saying that you’re having a better experience with SBMM, despite mine being abysmal... so I ask: What would be your issue with allowing players to choose how they connect like we could in Halo 3 and Reach?

I know I’ve ran into quite a few Kanji/Chinese lettering(forget what it’s called) for names of clans and gamer tags recently that skip across my screen. I’m in the Eastern US. Why am I being matched with these players.

I tend to match with Russians and people from South America(who I strangely get good ping to sometimes).

Edited by Lost Sols: 11/20/2019 12:17:33 AMLong time no see! How are you? :) As far as latency, it will always be a thing and was even in QP last year. That's why the whole cbmm is no lag premise is false, I saw as much last year as ever and it's because connection quality will matter more for solo players and fireteam hosts, but once you get other players in the game from other parts of the country/world latency is right back in the equation. It's the same reason dedicated servers wouldn't eliminate it if players are still allowed to play with friends from other regions. And I see a lot of complaints from the EU, but they have to understand that they're going to play pepper from other countries just based on the size of their countries vs the US. Also, I have no issue with a choice, it's what we asked for going into this season and Bungie gave a cbmm Classic mix to go along with sbmm Control and no regular players want to play Classic.

I’ve been good. As far as lag, I am inclined to agree up to a certain point, As we both know Bungie cannot “fix” the Internet. However, poor performance online can be mitigated. Running a geo filter is a god send, but I had to fork out the cash.
