The first being the ridiculousness of the controversy around cores. Now there are players running around with literally thousands of cores and no longer subject to the idiocy that is grinding cores to be able to infuse what you want when you want.
But the big thing this issue showcases is the hypocrisy of Bungie.
THIS WAS STOPPED IN A MATTER OF HOURS.
Bungie’s response was so fast that it was obliterated before most players had even heard of it, much less utilized it.
And now to fix the problem and make Pinnacles claimable again? It’ll likely be days if not weeks. All I need is 400 precision kills to get my Oxygen, I’ve done the strikes and the orbs. So much for that huh. Glad I already got my Recluse, but I’m not even close to Delirium. But now there’s no reason to make any kind of push for Delirium because who knows when I’ll be able to claim it.
Bungie is SO QUICK to stop players from using exploits to circumvent their terrible economy. And yet when it comes to big things like OG Laser Tag when Prometheus was “bugged,” Slowva Bomb dodgeball in Mayhem when you could spam infinite Novas, guitar error coding in Last Wish, Like a Diamond not being awarded properly, and other major game breaking issues that completely ruin things, Bungie takes weeks if not MONTHS to fix these issues.
Bungie’s attention to cores is utterly ridiculous. All the “data” they’re gathering and monitoring constantly is now flawed because there’s players who managed to get 3,000 cores in a couple hours. A player gets their hands on a few too many cores and the worst that happens is they can actually afford to infuse whenever they want and they have a lot of Masterwork guns. Big deal. And yet Bungie is so fast that it was done away with before people even realized. Not PATCHED. Stopped.
And yet the things I’ve mentioned damage GAMEPLAY. Prometheus and Nova spam murdered crucible for a week or so. Nova spam made Mayhem unplayable, and while Laser Tag was fun once everyone had Prometheus from Xur, the first few days before that anyone who had a Prometheus was unkillable.
And just recently. Guitar error codes have occurred since September of 2018 and have now been “patched” (they STILL HAPPEN) in March 2019. That’s ALMOST SEVEN. MONTHS. This prevented people from getting a TITLE for crying out loud. Some people managed but it was infuriating beyond belief. Same thing with Like a Diamond, this was a quicker fix than Last Wish but still took 3 months, regardless.
Bungie responds in hours to a core abuse exploit. Patch is going to be days if not weeks. I bet next reset is going to be the patch date. Hours to stop core abuse, seven months to fix a broken freaking Raid.
Ridiculous.
I don’t think Bungie’s reaction would be so quick in coming if not for a hidden agenda. The idea of having thousands of cores means that they can infuse whatever, whenever, and they’ll have a larger arsenal of Masterwork Weapons. This is not a game threatening issue, most people at max light and already use Masterwork weapons. There’s no danger to the game with people abusing this.
However there’s plenty of danger to Bungie’s agenda. Particularly their false grind they’re using to artificially extend play time, and the data that they’ve “been collecting and monitoring closely on how many cores players have, how many they earn playing, and how many they spend.” That “data” is now worthless because there’s are players that acquired thousands in a couple hours.
Bungie reacted at the speed they did not because this threatened the game world. It threatened their plan for the players. A number of the community got out of their choke hold so they had to double down and clench their fists as tight as possible.
Edit: Bungie is patching tomorrow. I’m glad to hear it and hope this becomes the norm. My points on cores and the track record still remain, but I am hopeful.

You can get 21 guranteed cores a week from Hawthorne with relatively 0 effort and minimal play time... couple that with all the other avenues for cores and there is literally no reason people should be having problems with cores. I'm starting to feel like people are over exaggerating this topic greatly.

3 RepliesSo true. They live fixing exploits over night. You also forgot the eye mask running riot for months. If it gives players incentive to grind it will stay there for months Vice versa they fix it immediately.
-
20 RepliesBungie patching tomorrow just enforces your post. When players reported their powerful engrams were dropping at +1 and not +5 it took 3 weeks for a fix. When players are exploiting a bug to get more cores they shut it down that day and have a fix 3 days later. The amount of times they can quickly fix a problem that goes in our favor vs the amount of time it takes to fix a problem going there way is just another sad Destiny meme at this point.

I never really got the “cores suck!” Thing. I saved up for the last 3-4 days, and have around 118 cores right now. I get a couple from dismantling gear, and using those orange boxes consumables that drop one for you. I don’t think the cores are that difficult to get

Edited by everwilling: 4/11/2019 8:33:09 AMYep! I’m slowly withdrawing from this game each week. I came on last night for 30 minutes and just couldn’t be bothered....that’s a first for me! Went straight to borderlands 2 .

Completely agree. Bungie takes their sweet time "testing" fixes to issues, when all this debacle shows is that they can respond to issue on the fly like a triple a developer should, yet choose not to. How long did it take them to fix the taken egg sparrow? Like 3 months? Not to mention the first fix didn't even work for half of the people, so they had to put out another one. How long did nova warp and one eyed mask run rampant for? Bethesda puts out patches for their bugs faster than bungie does, and their games have way more bugs, hence their nickname, bugthesda.

The whole enhancement core debacle is absolute horseshit now. They want make decisions "impactful" but all the players that abused the exploit have all the cores they ever need and almost certainly get to keep them. It's ridiculous to continue to punish the other players by leaving the system as-is at this point.
-
1 Reply100% agreed, and I could not have said it better myself. The Cores debacle was a shit show before, and now it's a full on joke. Enhancement Cores will be this game's legacy, surpassing even the XP throttle, and the Devs will have earned this little tin badge of honor. P.S. The only time I've seen something patched faster in this game was when people were getting the silver-based SRL Gear for free. Interesting, that. Not even the Three of Coins exploit in D1 when people could farm Exotics like candy or the Faction Rally cheese in early D2 got fixed this fast.
-
Don't forget how they super quickly fixed that bug with the sentry armor. But yea, it's ridiculous. Bungie will fix any exploit or glitch in a matter of hours, even when that exploit isn't even that big of a deal. But when it comes to actually fixing problems in the game it takes months. It's ridiculous.

When will bungie remove pc players from the ps4 platform as bungie you have robed and cheated ps4 users from a fair gaming experience in the crucible

3 RepliesWhy are you grinding for cores?
-
Tone deaf and continuing make poor decisions that impact guardians having fun grinding or playing the game. Next year destiny will have a new package or pass to sell. Stay way. Wait. And the. Decide to buy.

1 ReplyEnough players who never have been in that choke hold since we already had more cores than we needed. I infuse whatever I please and still have hundreds left. I also never understood why so many people rage against the system, just use your brains and all be fine with cores. (Oh, and nope I never even grinder for them, they just drop enough already with normal play)
-
Summed Bungie up in a nutshell there.
-
1 ReplyAgree overall, hypocrisy of similar patch speeds has been pointed out before (7 nightfalls at reset fixed in a couple hours for example). But your point about their data on enhancement cores being worthless as a result of this exploit is wrong. That data was ALWAYS worthless. They set out to collect data that by its very nature would reinforce their presupposed conclusion the core economy was fine as is. That data collection in its entirety was an exercise in confirmation bias.
-
3 Repliesall your crying - "I bet next reset is going to be the patch date." I would have taken your bet if I had seen it earlier, too bad I missed out. Maybe I should cry about it. Too late - patch already in place - go get your gun, youngster.

8 RepliesThey intentionally have not patched out the Riven cheese. How does that fit into your spin-foil hat theory of Bungie being quick to patch out issues that let players abuse game faults or work-arounds, with some grand scheme of pro-longing game time?

5 RepliesEdited by Danhawk: 4/11/2019 1:41:21 PMBut also to your point be nice if they did a hot fix to guarantee you got a new node every time on mars until you unlocked all 40 of them. And if they bumped the drop rate of those guns from the nodes as well. Or hell even the ep ship

4 RepliesFunny... I always thought Destiny only had 2 problems. Its developed by Bungo, and every entry, thus far, has spent 1 year in beta, for $60. I don't remember any of these problems affecting games like Borderlands, for example.
-
They fixed Prometheus like a week after the issue was found, and they had xur sell it that weekend so that everyone could get in on the fun before the patch. Actually was the most fun I had in crucible that week, sad they didn’t let it go for awhile

Your post is gonna get taken down by Bungie. Those scumbags!

Edited by Shockwave 989: 4/11/2019 10:51:28 AMAAAAAAAAAAND they're fixing it in a patch tomorrow.
if not weeks
People if they swing this drastically this quickly they will not take -blam!-ing weeks. Also, the broke the core thing in the patch this week. They know what the problem is. The guitar errors are baked in deep. I do see that edit, just speaking my mind
