The majority of uneven populated games are a direct result of queue dodgers. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/249965357/0/0

  • Queue dodgers are a direct result of shite matchmaking not matching stacks against each other and wildly uneven teams. It still comes back to matchmaking. If your matchmaking needs a “breaking teams up” protocol then it’s complete trash to begin with.

4 stacks are currently dodging 4 stacks to match up against solo players. If you made entirely different queues for 4 stacks and solo players then connection would be an issue. Also, then what do you do with 3 man teams?... They need a solo right?... Separate queues degrade quality of the connection and are unrealistic. Removing the dial makes it so 4 man teams won’t be able to dodge other 4 man teams.

4s dodging other 4s is the ultimate sign that someone is trash. Putting an aggressive scaling dodge penalty in comp will alleviate a lot of those dodging problems. 4 randos vs a stack should be the lowest priority. I’m not advocating a stack queue and a solo queue. I just think stacks should be prioritized against other stacks. CoD does this. I run 5 or 6 deep with friends in CoD all the time and 70%+ of our games are against stacks of similar size, sometimes we win and other times not so much. Full randoms on the other team are uncommon and they get steamrolled most of the time. Different sized population obviously but it still makes the point. When you run stack in destiny you almost never see another stack, not even 3s. Even with CBMM there’s plenty of matches with trash connection and I know damn well it’s not me. It still comes down to matchmaking algorithms Bungie uses being shit.

  • Hmm. My experience is every time I LFG the party leader spends a significant time in orbit dodging against other 4 stacks. It almost always starts out as 4v4 in my experience. Eventually, it finds a solo queue of some sort. 1, 2, or 3 stack. It’s possible that, after a period of time, the solo queuers are match with the stack after waiting X amount of seconds for expedited play..... Matchmaking may currently prioritize teams versus teams, but with everyone dodging it may place priority, eventually, on cbmm.

  • I could rant plenty about dodging other stacks but that’s besides the point. My experience is just having crowds of largely randos with the rare stack fed to us until we finally stumble across a stack that is better than us and breaks our streak and then it’s back to being fed by players who definitely should not be matching with us. When I go in solo all I see are stacks on the other team. Which leads me to think that either Bungie’s matchmaking has no clue what it’s doing or it’s very different than what they’re telling us it is.
