I’m confused about what you actually want/expect. People will always use what’s easiest for them to get kills with. I personally like my primary and only switch to my shotgun strategically when I know I’ll be in a compromising close quarters situation that calls for it. Honestly I’d worry less about people who panic super like that cause yes while it’s frustrating when it happens to you they wasted it when they could’ve chose a better moment and got 2-4 kills possibly instead.
As for what your thought on skill based matchmaking, I don’t really understand why so many people are asking for it in quick play. You claim you want to play casually but if you’re constantly going up against people who are theoretically of equal skill level as you how do you expect it to deliver anything other than a sweaty experience?

People expect shotguns to be a high risk and high skill weapon type, instead by give gave a high impact shotgun with range higher than its impact and ruined competitive with it and the special meta while the rest of us need hand canon kills with the threat of our progress to fabled being wiped because Bungie have no capacity to think ahead.

Edited by DAS werewolf: 11/22/2018 1:11:37 PMShotguns are a high risk weapon type. People just became good at playing angles, hugging corners, running away, and hiding. Between that and many maps having designs that allow people to do them so well a skilled person or someone who’s just gotten used to using them can be hard to counter with a primary. As for skill they aren’t meant to be a high skill weapon but have a high skill gap instead imo. And happy thanksgiving btw

Also, while I'm Aussie and we don't have Thanksgiving, I will happily extend the same wishes to you. Happy Thanksgiving :)

Thanks, I’m not sure what holidays you celebrate but whatever the next big one is for you guys I hope you have a good one.

Thanks mate, just Christmas here in December like most others :p

Ok, statement about the skill gap is fair. I will say that you can't quite say they're a high risk weapon type if you get ammo every time you respawn and again I feel the need to point out the fact that the range stat on dust rock blues, a high as hell impact shotgun, can have more range, even without a range masterwork than its impact stat. It doesn't take too much skill to shotgun, no matter the difference in skill.

I think the risk associated with them is supposed to be from trying to close the gap to get within lethal range. With the ways people play I mentioned before plus map design and player movement speed a lot of that risk that’s supposed to be there just isn’t. The elimination of that risk makes it seem like we don’t have a lot of viable counters and people trying to get kills with specific weapon types doesn’t help either. I don’t know that much about how it plays out in competitive as I activity avoid it but I’d imagine the issues multiply as you play against increasingly skilled players who choose to use shotguns.

All of what you have said is true. Twice as much when talking about competitive, it is not a fun place to be right now even with a team.
