As soon as I read what I had to do for the catalyst it completely killed the weapon for me. This game has poor networking and runs at 30 frames per second. This is easy to mess up over and over again and there's zero matchmaking for Escalation Protocol. I'm going to be honest, I haven't been able to be teams together for this or be on at the right time with my clan and I just feel like Escalation Protocol did not live up to the hype at all. I thought it was a horde mode I could gradually work through with randoms like Archons Forge and it's nothing like that. It drops nothing unless you're at level 7. I feel like I got this dlc and did nothing in terms of the content. I still haven't done spire of Stars, my clan doesn't want to do it because they heard how many fail states the boss has until they're all 385. Other than campaign and a few strikes and one new public event, I feel like I've been playing the same game since launch with no new content. I don't even want to do public events on Mars anymore. The whole thing just seems disorganized. The fact that a random can start Protocol right before a public and mess things up forcing people to fast travel to the same spot is lame. Trying to get your friends together in the same lobby with no control over servers to do the mode in the first place with a team of 6 to actually have some fun with it is lame. Edit: I do want to acknowledge that I consider new loot content. I have been fun playing with new weapons and have been leaning into PvP a little more. Giving the maps to everyone was a good move. What I want to clarify is that I bought Curse and Warmind for the Infinite Forest and Escalation Protocol respectively, plus a new place to explore, and both modes haven't been interesting or fun to me. While Mars had more to explore, I finished that, and other than looting some more nodes, there's not much more there. I do not expect secrets forever, but since the EP mode doesn't satisfy, it feels like there is nothing to do there for me. The Infinite Forest should have been a gameplay mode, maybe even its own match made playlist, but it failed. It could still be improved but Bungie most likely won't go back to it. Bums me out. I think Fireteam matchmaking for the Infinite Forest heroics would actually be fun. We should have ran that for the forge, not the same old strikes and public events we had already done plenty of times. It certainly should have been an option, but it was the better option because the forest had no matchmaking. Bungie, please read: without public access or matchmaking, new modes just aren't fun!!
