Since the beginning of this year, we’ve been setting more specific expectations for the work we’re doing to support Destiny 2. With some Season 2 updates in our rear view mirror, it’s time to look further into the future. Before we take a look at our development priorities, Game Director Christopher Barrett has some commentary on our goals for this summer, and beyond.
Barrett: The team is very excited to extend the roadmap and share with you some of the big stakes we’re putting in the ground. Recent updates have focused on immediate issues to the live game, but in the coming months our vision for the future is converging with critical player feedback to deliver transformative changes to Destiny 2.
We’ll be diving deeper into each one of the listed items soon, and there’s even more we can’t quite talk about yet, but for now it’s all hands on deck to make sure we deliver on our promise to restore Destiny 2 to the hobby we all love.
Here’s the new roadmap, spanning the entire summer.
The community has been talking a lot about some of the things we’re developing for Season Four. Our goals for these features are to give you more control over how you configure your loadouts in Destiny 2 and give you more reasons to play the game over time. We also want to bring back those exciting moments when you acquire the perfect weapon. To make this happen, updates like Weapon Randomization, Weapon Slot Changes, Gear Collections, and Records will be delivered to all players.
We now have a plan for Raid Prestige changes (including Raid Lairs) and will update where it will land in the next Development Roadmap. Mod Changes are being incorporated into our new plan for Weapon Randomization.
On May 8, with the beginning of Season Three, we’re also launching the second expansion to Destiny 2. It’s called Warmind, and it will send you to new places to meet new heroes and battle new enemies. You’ll earn new loot and master new activities. Today, we’re naming it and dating it. You’ll learn more in a reveal stream on April 24. Mark your calendars and follow us on Twitch.
Season Three marks the beginning of a new plan for how we deliver Crucible content. For every player of Destiny 2, we’ll be releasing all of the new Crucible Maps being developed for Warmind into matchmaking. The same goes for the maps we released with Curse of Osiris. To keep the community in the Crucible unified, everyone will see new arenas in matchmade playlists like Quickplay, Competitive, Trials of the Nine, Iron Banner, as well as the new weekly rotators that include Rumble and Mayhem. That means more opponents for everyone. With the arrival of Private Matches, players will need to purchase each Expansion to have exclusive access to play those Crucible maps with other players in a private match. This plan goes into effect on May 8 with the beginning of Season Three.

The usual conversation about our creative process will continue. Expect to learn more about the new features on the roadmap as we delve deeper into developer commentary. If these plans change – and plans have a way of doing that – we’ll keep refreshing this roadmap on a monthly basis.
Thanks for coming along with us on this journey, thanks for your feedback, and thanks for playing.

What a joke

2 RepliesI didn't see anything about a fusion rifle nerf. When is that going to take place?

i love roadmaps. except when the satnav says lane 3 closed for resurfacing, delays possible.
-
So i guess Artifacts are folk lore now. i mean Saladin doesn't remember we became iron lords so i guess he also forgot about Timur, Jolder, Perun, and the others. COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.
-
why to cancel D1 (Iron Banner) when D2 is still not finished? ...way to lose customers.
-
You guys need new coders!! Wait until September to expect the same game? How are you not embarrassed by this?
-
2 RepliesWow! Are you F'n serious! So many people are waiting for the new Prestige Raid that's suppose to be out in May and yall pushed it back? Nobody care's about the stupid modifier for Heroic Strikes. What a piece of sh*t company!
-
1 ReplyI appreciate what’s been put down, but where’s the mod rework?
-
Can't wait, Would like to hear more about the new shader system you guys teased a few weeks ago, and the weapons system so that we can give you feedback before it goes live in the fall. Keep up the good work.

This is a huge step forward. Not so much that the things players wanted are hopefully finally on their way, though that's huge. But more important, it's an indication that Destiny 2's undergoing a change in basic direction. Hopefully, the mentality of "balance PvP at all costs" is finally being recognized as the bad idea it is. If so, then there may be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Prestige Raid Lair?
-
Thanks for the update on the state of things guys, future looks bright and personally i look forward to all of these changes. I just hope you got plenty of content, locations and a few new game modes to add in i.e. customisable horde mode, new PvP gametypes etc.
-
Looks like random rolled customisable gear is coming Loadouts may change but I don't know cause the fixed weapon raid challenge has them in same order. So maybe a new system that allows a wildcard weapon or something else. Exotics will be bench mark weapons and will outperform other non exotic gear of same type. Hope it works cause I do miss Destiny.

Glad to at last see a roadmap beyond this season, looking forward to seeing and hearing more details in TWAB and stream. I'm guessing you'll be keeping the details fairly light until you've tested your messages and plans at the summit. I'm fine with that - even the best planned communications can miss the mark so I think listening to people at the summit would help a lot. Please listen to Myelin Games! Lore is not a side issue, it's the foundation of your universe which makes Destiny compelling in the first place :) That said... It sounds like there'll be 1 significant update per month over the summer and I'm assuming a whole bunch of new exotics with dlc2. That's probably enough to keep me playing a few times a week until September but I doubt it's going to appease/bring back disgruntled players. I think it's a mistake to hold both weapons slot changes and randomisation for the September dlc. I understand these changes will take time to work through however there are a lot of players who bought the season pass for dlc1 and dlc2 who feel badly burned right now. If you put the slot changes and/or randomisation in their hands so that they could see how it improves things in, say, August then I think more of them would be likely to change their mind and buy dlc3 in September? Otherwise, it's another big bang approach and I just don't think the trust required for that is there with a lot of players. Personally, I am disappointed that there's no reference to Iron Banner rewards, Lost Sectors or lore generally in your roadmap. I believe all these areas need some work.

Give everyone. A secondary (shotty or snipes) . 2 primaries. You guys ruined pvp by giving 2 people colony rockets or acrius the whole game.. we need shotty battles. We need epic snipes.. have this done in one month. Not in September. "New slot changes and buy this expansion" that makes me not want to play anymore..you guys have already gone through the eververse and the paywall scandals.. Just get on track.. And yes yes. I know i will get banned from commenting again. Atleast I know you guys are reading my posts lol

1 ReplyI love how you guys keep mentioning your expansions while telling us when you're going to make fixes. All fixes should happen faster. They shouldn't be spread out to intertwine with expansions. The game needs to be fixed and fun to play. Then I'll give you my money...
-
Smart move consolidating the crucible player base.
-
It's good that you're going back through the problems you created and trying to correct them. It's the right thing to do. It may not save Destiny, but future games might benefit.
-
Don’t forget to reduce the TTK in crucible! We need the same TTK we had in D1!

1 ReplyThank you for the Road map and the upcoming updates. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and I am excited for it. These forums are getting exactly what they all are asking for, yet they still find ways to beat a dead horse. As a Destiny Fan and as a long time lurker on here I would like nothing more than the screams of harassment and disapproval to be quieted so we can find the information we want. I am sick of the babies that have to have their way or they are going to ruin everyone's day. Keep it up Bungie you guys tried something and it wasn't well accepted, but you have made strides, well more like steps in the right direction. Stick to the roadmap, and it is ok to send us a "broken" meta if it means a quicker turn around. Keep it up and know some Guardians have not turned their back on you.

This is good. Thanks for the update. Love you brother.

September should be free end of the community deserves it and it be the only way to win back the fanbase as i definitely will not be paying for it as should of been from day one !!!!
