5.6 million out of 7.7 million players are not playing the game. That’s about 73% of the playerbase for Destiny 2. Is it more likely that this many people are just “whiny bitches” or is it more likely that the game is lacking and Bungie are asshats for trying to pass this mess off as a Triple A game?

I would say it’s the later rather than the former.

I'm note sure how many individual people post on the forums, but I'm sure most of the 5.6 million statistic you've given who have stopped playing the game due to genuinely disliking it have done the smart things by not being whiny bitches and staying off the forums.
