I kinda lean towards the idea that the vex is singular. That the radiolaria are all entangled on the quantum level so every vex construct is all the same construct. Lookup quantum teleportation.
The bodies could be an unhappy accident where a robotic probe went to the source world and radiolaria inhabited the probe. The stuff has an electrical charge so I can see it getting into the cpu and learning. The sender's investigating and each encounter the radiolaria learned.

So glad I️ know enough about quantum physics (the concepts at least) to not have to look it up lol That is a great theory, I’ll consider putting it in the post, but how would u explain the oceans of radiolaria and the Vex of different shapes and sizes? Would the Vex just have started building different bodies after enough of them had gathered (seeing how in this theory they are all quantum copies) and then to make the oceans started teleporting bodiless versions of themselves?

The radiolaria might be like some sort of organic nano machines and fashioned the bodies in that way. The various shapes make sense for utilitarian purposes. I wonder if the vex figured out quantum mechanics based on self observation from being quantum in nature.
