Well start by allowing us to taylor our builds. Look at any other RPG, the character skill tree is is more than 9000 times more customizable than D2. Heck even Division had a more customizable skill tree than Destiny. Our builds shouldn't be level to 20 then forget. We should have to earn skill points from activities and such to unlock nodes in our builds. Wouldn't it be fun to have specific skill nodes unlock upon completing a raid? Wouldn't create even greater incentive if we could only upgrade that skill after completing the prestige version x number of times? As for weapons, the weapon system iz actually fine as a base weapon system. That is, every weapon in the game is fine as a starting point. What is needed is a weapon leveling and customization system. The hell with infusion, allow us to increase gear power level by simply leveling up the gear through usage. Also, introduce a more robust mod economy. I know most are going to cringe when thinking mods in this game, but that's only because this game doesn't have an actual mod economy. The mods in this game are more or less trivial. Allow us to have 3 to 6 mods per gear item. And make mods add perks. That way we can customize what ever weapon we like to do whatever we want. Make mods drop in engrams as for endgame we'll likely be farming for mods to add that specific perk and not base gear.

  • I think another issue is the lack of activities not having their own unique loot. Why don't the Flashpoints have loot you can only acquire doing them. Again, why don't Nightfalls have their own loot table? Etc. Having static rolls on guns is fine if you provide enough unique weapons in activities to acquire them.

  • True, flashpoints basically just give you fear from that planet. Nightfalls vasically jist give you vanguard gear and prestige anything is useless. I agree, all of those activities need to give something unique/special whether it be weapons, armor, mods, or skills. I think it would be interesting if every planet/raid/strike introduced a branch on your skill tree. Prestige modes can add the bonus of giving you a means of increasing your carrying capacity for skill nodes (number of nodes tou can equip at once).

  • Its the reason why I am saying. Bungie needs to break out of their mold of constraints.

  • For sure, Bungie knows shooters but they're kind of clueless in the RPG world. The only way I see what we're talking about happening is if they partner with someone more versed in RPG design.
