You can do this as soon as you spawn in the Tower.

  • But that allows you to before, so saves time. Thanks.

  • It does not save time. You can open the map in the Director, select your NPC and be on your way. If you do it from Orbit, Open Director, Select Traveler, Select NPC, now select Landing Zone, now Select launch. Getting the launch option when selecting the Traveler cuts down on all those actions.

  • Most times when I select the tower on the map is to see if I have a good reason to check in there. I'd rather have that extra click to travel there rather than have to travel to the tower just to see if there's things in my postmaster.

  • There's generally always a reason to be at the Tower and there are markers in the Destinations screen alerting you to quest turn in and such.

  • I'm pretty sure the real reason you see the map before you travel there is that seeing the flashing icons that tell you there are rewards waiting for, get you excited and trigger reward centers in your brain. A lot of Destiny, as well as other games, are designed in a way to make them addictive, especially when it comes to things like flashing icons, bright colors, and other UI things.

  • Now this is the most plausible explanation I've seen yet. lol You might just be right. I still hope they change it.
