You know what i crave in FPS these days? A story and not any story with shooting or COD rinse or repeat or the Halo days. Sure it was great then but to be a forward thinker i got the idea from the new Maddien.
One day i would like to see lets say in Halo. The ability to build a career in Halo for Example. Allow more story choices kinda like Mass Effect just allowing you a career that tells a great story.
If you brought movie elements into an FPS game and allow choices instead of just playing along it could change the dynamics of not only how you play but the game being much more interesting. FPS are so narrow these days and it seems they could break out even more.
Just what i was thinking. I mean people might not think the same but it is worth considering. Not like i am going to have that game idea and make tons of money but changes should be made in the future as technology grows.

Like an open world halo game? That'd be cool but wouldnt trust 343i to do it.

7 RepliesWhile I'm all for games doing something fresh, implying a linear experience is somehow a lesser one doesn't sit well with me. I'm also not sure what you mean by introducing movie elements. Some good examples of narrative FPS games would be... Metro Deus Ex Bioshock 1 Timesplitters Darkness Prey Shadow Warrior I'd like into a game called Superhot if you want some ingenuity in your fps games. It has a really fun mechanic. If you want this kind of game, then go ahead and learn how to make it.

I was hoping Brothers on Arms would have something like this And here I am, still waiting.... And waiting... And waiting.... Anytime now....

3 RepliesEdited by Talon: 6/21/2017 12:26:59 AMSo an in-depth FPS with RPG elements? Isn't that like Bioshock or Fallout?

While I feel the multiplayer is shit and repetitive, the campaign is always, without fail, an amazing experience, and often easily worth the 60$ price tag for that alone.

6 RepliesLook at Anthem. TPS but with FPS elements and might have an epic story.

Nah, I still prefer Call of Duty. I play FPS games for the quick, no thinking involved 10 minute matches. It's mindless gaming, but if you wanna try, you can. You want rich and loaded games? Go play other games lol

The problem with "FPS" is it is an acronym meaning "first person shooter", which is an example of a video game genre. If you take out the "shooter" aspect of a first person shooter, then its genre changes completely and it is no longer a "first person shooter".

A FPS mixed with beyond two souls.

1 ReplySo basically a game similar to Fallout RPG elements without a shit story where your choices actually do mean something. Then give it Halo type shooting mechanics? I should've just said a game like Far Cry, but where your choices actually make a huge difference on the Player character and world.

I'd love a game with halo combat mechanics and mass effect RPG mechanics. As well as mass effect style squad and loadout choices, Imagine if different armor actually had combat benefits as opposed to just cosmetic choices

1 ReplyI hear You! I think an rpgish Halo or a career type campaign would appeal to a wide variety of people, not just fps fans. But.. I don't like rpg or rpg like elements, that's why I play a lot of fps.

I'd love a mass effect or gears type of game story art style in a fps... It's like all you can get it 3rd person cover or cookie cutter fps...
