I thought the vex knew they were doomed by the taken and that is why they are fighting.

They cannot predict the Taken, and with Oryx controlling them the Vex couldn't outmatch them either, so they manipulated time to let Praedyth's signal escape, knowing that it would draw in Guardians As for the Vault, our unpredictability is what allowed us to make it through to Atheon (although only in a few possibilities of time) and our Light combined with the Aegis Relic let us beat them

In all their simulations, there wasn't one outcome where they could defeat the taken/Oryx. That's why they let pradythe (spelling?) loose from the dark corners of time for a second. So he could get a message out. The vex knew guardians would respond to it, thus letting us save their VoG for them.

Thats crazy. So during the raid it says some thing like vex are doomed and guardians make thier own fate. What does that mean?

The intstance I'm referring to is during the Paradox mission. During the raid, Atheon opens a time stream that sends you to a past (venus) or future (mars) version of the vault. They are not really mars and Venus but people call them that for ease. Atheon does this to seal the guardians' 'fate.' You start to go blind because you are out of your own timeline. The oracles then attempt to mark you to be 'deleted' from all times. By successfully killing the oracles and having your partner's open the time gate, you've successfully denied the fate the vex made for you. Thus "Guardians make their own fate." This is my understanding anyway, I could be wrong. And also why you do so much damage to Atheon during 'times vengeance', because the three timelines are meeting during that time and your past present and future selves are all pulling the trigger.

I love the idea of that. Almost gives me shivers. This game's lore is too good.

Np! If you do like this sort of thing, check out the fan made story "into the hellmouth." It sticks close to lore and has some creative filler. It involves the first encounter of hive on earth, the great disaster in the moon, and eventually eris morns raid team's attemp on the hellmouth. Its a little lengthy, but I don't even enjoy reading that much and I knocked this story out in a day.
