A thread like this should be presented by someone who's not a Christian, but has studied the religion, to eliminate any bias.

I can tell you thats not how it works. Why would you listen to a Zeus worshipper on Mount Olympus on how Christianity really is? Or listen to an athiest on how pagan tree hugging African Tribal religion is? They doesn't know the first thing. Bias is something everybody has, and you just have to account for it. It all has to do with ones word, whether they speak the truth or not of it.

-
Because atheists are always extremely unbiased in all religion-based things they do
-
I hate atheists.
-
I didn't say anything about your feelings towards atheists. Are you 12?
-
Because atheists are always extremely unbiased in all religion-based things they do
We're hitting new levels of stupidity not even thought possible before: People don't understand the words they say themselves.
-
Where did I assume your feelings toward atheism? Describe it please
-
You assumed that by saying, "Someone who isn't Christian," I was referring explicitly to atheists, and saying that they had better judgement. Evidence for this is your condescending comment in which you sarcastically explained that my belief that atheists have perfect judgement (Couldn't be farther from the truth) is flawed.
-
It takes a Christian to know the religion so well.
-
Edited by Oak_Khan: 3/27/2017 4:09:51 PMFalse, I know an athiest who knows more about Christianity than I'm willing to bet anyone you know does, the beliefs stem from a book that can be studied
-
I know a load of pastors that get payed to study the book. In fact, my Uncle is one.
-
Okay, I'm not saying pastors aren't informed but non religious people can also be very involved. Also can your uncle read the bible in every language that it had ever been translated in before English?
-
Edited by Jolly Templar: 3/27/2017 4:39:56 PMI don't know, he does know quite a few languages. The only languages that really matter though are Greek, Hebrew, and Latin.
-
-
So your friend is fluent in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin?
-
Yup, he visits sites and stuff he is in that line of work
-
What line of work is that?
-
Edited by Oak_Khan: 3/27/2017 5:07:51 PMI'm not entirely sure the title, the only reason I know him is because he was giving talks at my school and when talking to him I was surprised to find out he was an athiest. He used to do research work here but I think he is in Yale now
-
No it doesn't.
-
Would you trust someone from South Africa to know more about America than an American? Of course not. Now stop being ridiculous.
-
>who has studied the religion We want someone who hasn't been influenced by a pastor.
-
That is, again, idiotic. I have seen many pastors, and honestly the more pastors you see/ the more you go to church, the more you learn about the religion. It doesn't work the opposite way. I thought that was obvious.
-
Pastors preach their vision of Christianity, which is more often than not, NOT what the Bible says.
-
Except a lot of the time being taught By a pastor is learning it with a bias off the bat.
