Obviously I can only speak for myself, but to live in a manner where you close yourself off to a point where you remain unaffected or are unable to emotionally invest in music, literature, movies, video games, et al seems like a pretty shallow existence, bordering on a spectrum disorder. Unless of course it's just faux nihilistic posturing, which seems to be the default position on most forum boards these days.

Indeed, the sort of person who would no doubt presume that because they only knew of someone from some 40 year old 'kids films' that everybody else would also remain blissfully ignorant of any achievements made in the 40 years that followed.

I just think it's nice to know a little something about a person before going to town on them, gives you something to talk about if the mood shifts.
