Got Reported for Lag
The title basically describes it but ill explain ok so i was in the crucible about 20 minuets ago playing rumble and i got a message about 4 times during the match from the same guy in the match but didn't check them until after and he reported me recorded a game clip because i was "cheating" but the truth is my Internet is shit and i was lagging xD so i got reported because of my crappy wifi
Update: i have talked to my mom and she is going to let me hook up a ethernet cable to my xbox for 20 bucks .-. Thank you all who tried to help me solve my problem and thanks you negative people i finally see how many bad people are on these forums have a nice day everyone :)

Wifi is partly to blame for latency in the crucible particularly if your xb1/PS4 is far away from your router maybe the signal is passing through a couple of walls. Even if a wired connection isn't possible repositioning your router to provide optimum coverage for your house may provide you with a better connection . Also you can do a speed check on any smart phone to test the wifi speeds around your house. Also wifi can also be effected by other electronic devices tv's & cordless phones etc. Moving your router away from these may improve performance. Also if you have other family members streaming Netflix while your trying to stream destiny will also provide a problem in your ability to provide a stable connection. I know not everyone can afford high speed internet or it may not be available in your area but if you like online gaming then it's a worthwhile investment. These are some simple tips to get the best from your wifi. Hope you find them helpful. Ps Ethernet cables are very cheap around 5-10 pounds/dollars for pretty much any Length up to 30 meters Edit. Updating your routers firmware can also give you a performance boost. Check with your internet provider how to this.

That's why I only play Crucible when I have to; exotic quests, moments of triumph requirements... Otherwise, -blam!- that noise.

1 ReplyHad this happen to me, funny thing is i have 100 up / down internet and am hard lined into the router. Also i live alone so its not being overused. Someone sent me a message saying "reported for lag" i checked and sure enough i was red bar. Wasn't lag switching or anything just had a shit connection to that game. Point is people will automatically assume it because they get butt hurt easily. I wouldn't worry about some 1 time thing.

1 ReplyDon't worry too much, Bungie won't ban you for a single report. If it's just an occasional thing you can safely forget about it. If this happens to you often, though, it might be that your connection is pretty bad, and if you lag consistently (and get reported often, I guess) you might actually get a restriction or even a ban.

4 RepliesI "report" people for lagging too. The player I "reported" doesn't get negative feedback, all it does is not match me up with said player. I basically put you at the bottom of my matchmaking list. I use the Destiny report system btw.
