I remember in Year One, The Salt from the Tears of the Many laid to waste by the power of the Last Word, was superfluous enough to fill the biggest crater on the Moon. And now, it seems that Karma has returned in the form of it's sister, The First Curse. Really. This thing shreds hard.
Everyone's using the Clever Dragon now, which is cool. But, if you are proficient with Hand Cannons and are quick on the fly, give that thing a try. I have used it for the last number of Banner Matches. And it gave me the chills that The Last Word used to.
Note: I'm surprised that this many comments have appeared. Some are thought driven. Others sound like salt or some sort of bad rhetoric about the opponents or whatnot.(noticeably made by those with a shotgun as their primary)

Because Palindrome is wayyyy better.
-
Because most people play super passive now and will cross map you with a pulse or scout before you get a second shot off.
-
While I do like the First Curse, it's still a three-shot kill if you get two head shots and a body shot. Unfortunately, the same goes for Eyasluna and Palindrome, but you get your shots off quicker with these two guns compared to First Curse and Lingering Song. I've also been using the Eyasluna archetype since Year 1, so I'm just more accustom to that fire rate.
I miss Jewel of Osiris though... that was the only good Trials hand cannon. :/
I have a Lingering Song I'd love to use in Crucible, but I sometimes get outshot by Palindrome, and I just can't land shots on somebody using a pulse rifle with high-caliber rounds. My screen goes mental when I get shot by Blind Perdition or Clever Dragon... it's annoying.

3 RepliesBecause... effort.. that's why

Because it currently has the slowest TTK among handcannons.

1 ReplyIt's still a beast of a weapon in my opinion

4 RepliesI really like Hand Cannons and I do use the First Curse (More so for PvE than PvP). My reasons for not using the weapon in PvP: Range: - The range on the Hand Cannon is inferior to every legendary Hand Cannon I own. This combined with the steep damage drop off penalty means that often times my legendary Hand Cannon will do more damage per shot than the First Curse at range. Rate of Fire: - The First Curse is still a 3 shot kill on guardians that are at full health (exceptions to this are rare). So The First Curse requires the same number of shots but cant shoot those shots as fast as most legendary Hand Cannons. Handling: - The First Curse much like the TLW has a twirling animation that has to play out before the weapon can be fired. However, unlike TLW The First Curse's rate of fire doesn't allow it to overcome the delay. So unless your opponent has Potato aim if you're forced to switch to this weapon in a gunfight you're dead, even if they are already weak. Perks: - If you don't mind the perks than disregard this part. If the perks on the weapon don't suite your playstyle then you're stuck, If you like this archetype of Hand Cannon I recommend The Lingering Song.

Its a good weapon but a skilled hand cannon user will most likely be better off with a Hawkmoon archetype hand cannon in PvP.
-
Slower time to kill and more difficult to use with less range, is the answer. Still one of my favorite guns though (my favorite pistol in Y1 was Timur's Lash... this is my Y2 version.)
-
Because when you think of firing the third shot you would be dead already by someone rushing with a matador
-
It's a solid weapon but comparing it to a clever dragon is ridiculous. I would love for it to be part of the new meta though
-
Hawkmoon archtype weapons shreds the first curse
-
It's a nice gun, but high caliber rounds on a pulse rifle will make you put it away.
-
Slow firerate. Everyone just wants as much rate of fire possible.
-
I love the gun, even mained it for a short time!! But at the end of the day it's still a slow 3 shot kill. Whereas guns like the water star have a fast 3 shot kill... but the range just isn't there. That's why the palindrome is the best type to use right now. More range, less ghost bullets and a relatively quick 3 shot kill!

It isn't used in 3's because it simply isn't competitive enough. For something like banner sure it's fine, plenty of enemies running around low shields for a double or single tap for a quick kill. It's not a god gun though. Which is sad because I do kinda like it.

The First Curse can be a very beastly gun if you know how to use it. I sadly, do not 😒.

2 RepliesI am not proficient in hand cannons but I love that gun. I do think it could use a little buff tho
