It's different from the other souls games; basically the product of a corporate mind looking in on Miyazaki's work and saying, "How can we sell another one of these to his fans, without his help?" (He was there, but not in his usual position as project lead.)
In my opinion it fails to create an adventure that feels as grandiose as the other games, and it is the easiest of the series with the cheapest difficulty. However it has the best customization, the best multiplayer scene (subjectively,) and plenty of content.

I'd say the main game is easier than ds1 for sure, but they really stepped up their game with the dlc areas, better level design, bosses, and less cheap difficulty all around. Its no dark souls 1 or demons souls, but since sotfs comes with all the extra content, def worth a try.

Yeah, so far the four bossss I've come across haven't been too difficult at all. I've had the most trouble with the three sentries. I messed up with the third one having literally a sliver of health and myself not playing very smart at that point, I was just hyped to beat them. I died. Hahaha.

This seems like a really good breakdown of the game. At least it has content, I guess.
