  • I would say, in my time here, less than 10% do. And it's not always malice, it's just the fact that most people actually have very little insight to what the concept of balance honestly represents. Look at any sniper nerf post in the last weeks, and you can see what I mean. It usually goes something like this: [b]OP: [/b] OMG, nerf snipers! [b]Me: [/b] Ok, how and why? [b]OP: [/b] They need more flinch, I can't outshoot them with a primary. [b]Me:[/b] If you amp up the flinch, you're going to make people practice being better at quick scoping. [b]OP:[/b] Well, then make them descope on head shots. [b]Me:[/b] Again, more quick scopers, and now camping the edges of every map in the most obscure place possible. You'll have no chance to fight back at all. [b]OP:[/b] Then reduce the aim assist. Or remove it. [b]Me:[/b] Aim assist doesn't make the shot for you, it only comes into play when drag scoping. It just makes the sights stick to a hit box for .2 seconds. A lot of times it's more detrimental than helpful. [b]OP: [/b] At least make them fightable with a primary, Jesus! [b]Me: [/b] They already are, but you don't understand the concepts at hand. Snipers aren't fighting weapons, they are killing weapons. If you try to fight with them, they will simply kill you. If they are scoped on you, assume they can kill you at any time. There are other tactics that I and others use to kill snipers with our primaries all the time, but you want to challenge them head to head. that's the problem. [b]OP: [/b] But...why shouldn't I be able to challenge them like that. Me: It's a special weapon, and from the sounds of this argument, you've found out what's so 'special' about them. How about going after them in the areas where they aren't so special. you know, like 2 or 3 on one, multiple attack angles, AoE grenades on their face, using cover to advance on the nest, not walking through choke points with your head at head level, not continuing to try to challenge them after they have a shot on you, not going back to the same place, the same way, 10 times in 90 seconds, or just leaving them to do their business while you wipe the entire rest of their team, you know...over there. Where they aren't. [b]OP: [/b] -either salt or silence- At that point, a new challenger steps up to argue the same points that were just refuted, asking to make a class of gun next to worthless, not understanding that they would either make the gun virtually disappear, which isn't right or balanced, or make the normal way of using it so hard that people will flow into the cheapest and simplest way to get one-bangs. A play style that has less counter plays, btw.

  • Nice post. Tbh, I'm one that when this subject comes around would say it was better to remove aim assist and increase the flinch a lot for snipers. But do see your point on how that would make the problem even worse. But still I'd go for a total removal of aim assist - across the whole game. I already do that kind of stuff to avoid snipers. Depending on the player level, you can beat a sniper with a primary, some insist in remain scoped even getting shot at, waiting for the reload time, but I use a Soulstealer's Claw with a very good amount of ammo, I often win this kind of dispute. I also like using the Dreg's Promise or Darkblade's Spite, getting them in close quarters. These nerfs I think were all unnecessary, even the Vex and Thorn ones. Besides, PvE always gets the worst of every nerf update (special and heavy ammo for instance). Yeah, I know they buffed some stuff for pve in April's patch, but comparing with what they already took...that's the bare minimum.

  • I'd love for Vex and Thorn to be viable again, I've even had several discussions on how to make them balanced in the current game play. You know, like keeping the Thorn burn where it is, but not allowing the DoT to stack. Still provides additional fight removal time, but doesn't allow for a lot of 2-bang, unavoidable deaths. So long as we never have a 'Thorn meta' or a 'Vex meta', or really, and 'anything meta' come up, I'm good with them being back in.

  • I actually wish you could scale aim assist within your stat allowance. I find it ends up hurting my shots more than it helps me. I have made maybe 4 or five shots that I can confirm were due to aim assist, but I have missed dozens because a tiny corner of a hit box intersected my sights right as I was getting ready to pull the trigger, and the aim got sticky on the new shiny thing.
