Two Years Later and We Still Have No Time to Explain

Is it time for Bungie to explain?

Destiny launched almost two years ago now. That means that Bungie has had two years to progress the story on the Traveler, the Exo Stranger and the battle between the Light and the Darkness. However, nothing from those three major plot points has been elaborated on. Instead we've been given smaller (albeit amazing) tangents of stories that build on a lore that itself hasn't even been fully explained yet! Now, in Year Three, we're going to be given a closer look into the Fallen's House of Devil's presence in the Cosmodrome as well as a closer look at the Battle of Twilight Gap (hopefully); but the main points still stand desolate and open to immense and fiery debate among the community. When will we be given answers as to where the Traveler came from? Where did the Darkness come from? Who was the Exo Stranger talking to and why didn't she have any time to explain? What is the whole purpose of everything we've been fighting for for the last three years? Destiny had a major arcing story before it was cut just a few months before release and now we as a community have been left with what interesting sub plots Bungie has been able to piece together while they hopefully put together the bigger picture or wait for legal timing to run out. I am still loving Destiny and it's lacking story but I would love some depth in the game that I have already invested so much time into. I appreciate the story in the Taken King and I'll probably appreciate the story from Rise of Iron but, in the end, it doesn't even matter if we've come so far without even knowing why. Please, Bungie... I think it's time to explain

  • It may be almost 2 yrs since Destiny released, but its still Destiny 1. I think we will learn more about the things you mentioned in Destiny 2, and possibly most major story lines will be revealed through the major game releases rather than the dlc's. Destiny is certainly a game for patience. They started with the idea that they would build a franchise and tell a story over multiple game releases and DLC's. It wasn't a case of "oh that first game was a huge hit, let's make another one and expand on the story" like most games are.

  • Asking questions in poll responses sort of defeats the purpose.

  • The way it's probably going to work is that the main games like Destiny 1 and 2, will be Traveler focused. The DLC's will focus on world building and immediate threats

  • It's pacing, most game DLCs don't advance game's plot at all. So don't complain that the basis of the story is set in one game with much more promised for the next game.

I think they're trying to forget about the shitty vanilla story and move on.

    • There's more backstory in the Fant4stic movie then there is in this game.

I'd agree with you, but your math is incorrect. I want to help you understand, but.... *Starts vanishing* .....No Time To Explain

        • Well technically it's been two years (almost) since no time to explain was released and I dont think bungie can/will take away exotics worst case they don't make a year 3 version but it will still be in the game same as gally and mythoclast

          • I think it is better that we are exploring the edges because this will give us a context to the scale of the forces at work. We are battling things that literally rip apart the universe by their will power, so understanding that power as player will making the final conflict all that much more meaningful.

          • I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain because I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain simply because I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain.

          • Almost 2 years ago. Year 3 starts later this year, not ends.
