You couldn't be more wrong, respectfully. Getting pub stomped is exactly how you will get better. It will teach you how to use cover, watch for corners and sniping lanes, have greater map awareness and so on...

This is the old, "What doesn't kill you will only make you stronger" argument. Except in this case you are going to die a lot and somehow you're supposed to find a take away message in all of it. The reality is that being completely overmatched in skill and tactics doesn't really teach you anything. Your margin for error is so little when going up against higher skilled opponents that you don't have an opportunity to process what went wrong. I remember the first time I ran into a top 1% Crucible player, I knew this guy was on another level. I realized it instantly. Speed, movement, anticipation, timing, and precision- this guy had it all (Shout out to Eddyy_17). Even in situations where I had the initial advantage I would get owned. It was fun to witness but that's all it was. I wasn't competing against the guy. And I certainly wasn't learning anything. I compared him to a chess Grandmaster, staying ten moves ahead of everyone else. Without feedback from a person telling you what mistake you made you're just left wondering how you could possibly die so quickly. Highly skilled players are playing at such a frantic pace that you never have time to internalize mistakes in the moment. You're dead in less than a second or instantly which doesn't leave you much time to figure out what went wrong. When you play against equally skilled opponents (assume average or equal skill) ttk is generally slower and every mistake you make isn't instantly capitalized on. Sometimes you get away with the mistake and other times you don't. There is especially nothing to be learned from a pub stomping at the hands of a highly skilled and/or cohesive fireteam. You aren't going to get any 1v1s or find any position capable of being defended. This isn't about toughing it out. It's about fair competition.

I respectfully disagree with this. I met a friend back in OG destiny. He was absolutely atrocious at crucible. I would have a 5 kd or higher some gamwes and he would be struggling to go positive. Over time (especially the last 6-8 months) ive seen a MASSIVE increase in skill level on his part. What ive done is dragged him into sweats and just the fact hes been playing crucible with me against people of my skill level. He started out getting pubstomped. After dropping 2-15 games for a few months, he started learning. Now theres games where he keeps up with me or does even better. If you say you cant learn from being pubstomped, its because youre too caught up in the fact that youre being crapped on to just take a second to actually think "what should i do in this situation"
Over time (especially the last 6-8 months) ive seen a MASSIVE increase in skill level on his part.
Six to eight months of experience makes a big difference. I've seen it in my game (I had zero pvp experience of any kind) but my development had nothing to do with getting owned by better players. It coincided with consistently playing against opponents my skill level. That's healthy competition. It's probably significantly different too when you have a consistent fireteam or teammate to play with you and teach you versus when you play solo. Why? Because you're getting timely feedback about maps, positioning, strategies, weapons, skills, etc.
If you say you cant learn from being pubstomped, its because youre too caught up in the fact that youre being crapped on to just take a second to actually think "what should i do in this situation"
This is really a distraction to the larger argument of fair competition and what it means for development as a player. I think we've all been the pubstomper and the pubstompee. Either way, it's an outlier (unless you're running full fireteams all the time). I wouldn't rely on it as any sort of teaching moment.

First I'm told that you can never learn from being pubstomped then im told that over time you eventually do learn by being pubstomped. Im not defending sbmm. I HATE IT. However, you will learn from being stomped on

Pub stomping is why SBMM needs to be in place.

This is crap. This argument may be valid for some but not the majority. I don't play crucible just be mlg I also want to just enjoy kicking ass with friends which now I can't do unless they're the fireteam leader because most of them aren't on my level. Not to mention just the other day I lost eight straight games because of this sbmm crap. I'm in the 1.3 k/d bracket so while yes I'm getting better the others in my team aren't and the tilt is real.

Utter drivel. All getting stomped constantly will do is tilt you to hell and make you quit, I really hate this argument.
