Ash ketchum was likely in a coma throughout the events of the anime. It explains why he never ages, real life animals fade away and pokemon just keep coming, team rocket become less threatening so that he can live out his dreams and suddenly his pokemon love him. Then why the hell has he only won 1 tournament out of 6 leagues? So not only was he a loser in real life, he's a loser in his dreams as well. I like the show, but he has to win at some point in his 10 long years on this Earth.
