Did anyone here actually live through the World War FPS epidemic a couple generations ago? It was even more widespread and lasted longer than the Zombie infestation. What possible new angle could they use?

But we've since had a modern military and near-future military 'epidemic'. It's obviously cyclical. Right now, colour is back in fashion: Destiny, Sunset Overdrive, Battleborn, Overwatch, No Man's Sky, Street Fighter V, Firewatch, The Witness, Zelda Wii U/NX, Yooka-Laylee, Gigantic, Guacamelee.. All very colourful, very popular titles. Hell, even Fallout and GTA got more saturated with their latest games. But how many titles with that sort of pallet did you see for most of the seventh generation? There wasn't a lot. Instead, we got the grimdark 'grit' of Gears, Modern Warfare, Black Ops, Ghosts, Fallout 3, Souls, GTA IV. Hell, you could see the changing style of many games in the BioShock series alone. So don't worry. Even if we get a return of World War shooters, we'll be back to the beloved grey and brown of some fictional modern conflict soon enough.
What makes you think I was talking about WW2 shooters in conjunction with having a colour scheme
Your closing statement
Even if we get a return of World War shooters, we'll be back to the beloved grey and brown of some fictional modern conflict soon enough.
If your saying fictional modern will bring back grey and brown, it would strongly suggest that the previous titles, World War shooters in this case, had deviated from this color scheme

  • Nah. At least the historical factor made those greys and browns interesting.

  • Thing is, it's been done though Unless you go alternate History

  • Ok I'll give you that WWI has not been done nearly as much And honestly I think a dev should make a great single player campaign about it But not CoD CoD is the Micheal Bay of FPS games. I'd want a serious WWI and I'm not sure about how good the MP would be

  • Don't care about the multiplayer.

Diffrent strokes CoD is know for both high octane campaigns and "accessible MP" Neither of which is a good fit for the serious WWI game I would like to see

  • Uhhhhh no There are so many things wrong with that assessment Not the least of which was the washed out color scheme of most, not all but most, WWII shooters

What makes you think I was talking about WW2 shooters in conjunction with having a colour scheme? Obviously historical shooters are going to have a limited creative pallet. I was talking about games in genre settings (i.e. scifi, fantasy, etc.) or otherwise freer with art direction.

WWI, maybe, there have been fewer games about the first war But WWII has been covered through and through, unless they go alternate History
