Gonna make this short.
Microtransactions and DLC have been the biggest hatred of Gamers since the dawn of "robbing gamers of their money by under-handed tactics" was invented.
Every few months, Bungie and Activision push closer and closer to Pay To Win, or Pay To Advantage. And every few months, the hatred for Eververse Purchasers continue to rise.
A lot of people think they are cool, and supportive because they spent 20 to 50 dollars on Sterling Treasure to get Full Taken and/or Full Spektar.
But in reality, both on the forums, and in-game, they are getting murdered socially for helping in the greed and brutality of Bungie and Activision making the game come ever more near to hand-over-fork microtransactions.
What are your thoughts, forum?

Ive got the full taken set. I also happened to have 1600 silver that I didn't know I had since I hadn't played for a while. That's what I spent on the Sterling packages to get my set. I wouldn't have bought them otherwise.

9 RepliesYou bought Destiny... Got the TTK... Now you play for a year and do nothing else. How does the developer keep servers running and add content, make changes? You need a revenue stream. A single game purchase isn't that. It's like buying anything in life. Companies get your purchase, but make real money on the after market stuff. Cars.. why do dealerships have garages? That's right so they can make $$ off the service. Cell phones.. notice that everything extra costs money after the fact? If you are that upset with a company trying to make a profit, pay health care and salaries then I have nothing for you. Other than get used to it. This goes on in all facets of life. You just don't realize it.

Brutality hmmmm a little harsh, I think gamers are a bit entitled! Games have cost 50$ for more than a decade and destiny is as good as most out of box games I've paid for in the last 20 yrs. so I just see microtransactions as a minor thing, we can sit here and worry about possibilities or we can play the game and if we don't like it we don't play, pretty simple! So yeah save brutality for Syria.

I like my free treasure.

If anything gained is from the sterling treasure and your against micro transactions. Make sure you back out of any matchmade playlist that has a booster active. You don't want to contribute to the cause your so against.
-
1 ReplyIts as simple as this. buy all the cosmetic bs you want ill just wait for my weekly sterling treasure.
-
The only issue I have had with silver since they introduced it was the SRL Record Book. I felt that should have been available to all players without having to buy it. Don't care about the other uses so far.
-
The way I see it right now: Don't want to spend money/Mommy and Daddy won't give you money to spend = Don't spend money Want to spend money = Spend money
-
It's an OPTION, no-one forces anyone to purchase silver, personally I haven't and won't, but that's because I've never made ingame purchases with any game.
-
They're not really doing anything tbh
-
Well to be fair bungie do want to rule the world, that probably costs a lot of money.

Edited by What I Look Like: 4/22/2016 7:19:18 PMThis is assuming everyone is Big Brother and wants nothing but your money and blind cooperation.. have fun living with that deep seated paranoia.
-
Edited by Noir Renard: 4/22/2016 7:18:46 PMVery simply I say thanks for supporting the game. I enjoy destiny and have logged plenty of hours to make the cost worth it.
and there's people that have 100x my hours
so ya.

So...can anyone tell me how taken gear helps me ...did I miss something...is there other pay to win gear that gives you 330?.. oh..did they start selling weapons at higher light?
-
Bungie is not pushing to pay to win, they're just expanding their microtransactions
-
I think we should be able to attach chroma to the taken gear that way people can tell the difference between a player and taken enemy at quick glance

1 ReplyThe biggest lie to me is that you are "funding" the live team. Everything the live team does has had money allocated towards it since the planning stage. How else would they have planned to keep a 2 to 3 year game relevant? Developers and publishers do not do this by the seat of their pants or by accident. This money is just going into people's pockets. Even if it was being put towards Destiny 2, you are still just lining their pockets due to the fact that you are reducing the financial investment they have to make to develop a new game, when they will STILL charge full price for it, plus expansions. See what I am saying here?

9 RepliesAs long as it never becomes pay to win, which so far it looks like we are safe, then they are helping the game by funding Bungie for future content. #TitanMasterRace

2 RepliesLol cry some more its cosmetic you're still gonna keep playing im gonna keep paying just to annoy you. #walletwarrior

4 RepliesThey -blam!-ed up this time around. The Taken and Spektar gear, regardless of being 3 Light, is endgame gear. You run endgame content to get the chests which contain the armor, so it's endgame gear. You shouldn't be able to purchase endgame gear, that's a horrible decision on Bungie's part. A buddy of mine spent $40 on April 12th and got his full set of Taken gear in 10 minutes, now we can't get him to play because it's pointless for him. This isn't the sole reason why selling the Sterling Treasures is a mistake, it's just one of the reasons why.
-
Looks as if this plan backfired on ya!
-
Considering I opened around 10 so far and got nothing either people with the full set are blowing money like crazy or were incredibly lucky. I'd say they are the exact audience micro transactions are designed for. Easily addicted with lots of extra cash
-
Look, I purchased silver for myself, not for them or anyone else. I happened to receive both complete sets. I could care less if it helps the live team or not. I did it for myself. Do I feel bad about it? No, because they put it there for me to purchase. When you start caring about whatever everyone else thinks, you'll live a very un happy miserable life. Do what makes YOU happy. ~ INDY

8 RepliesPeople recently ask me during raids or coe, how did i get all the taken armor. I say i bought it. You knows what happens after that?...nothing. We continue with the game. Moral of the story, do what you want with your money.
