Guardians are somewhat immortal, and they were once dead. That would disturb any regular human being. On top of that, they were also given superhuman abilities and can be brought back from the dead.
What's stopping them from creating a tyrannical government?

That doesn't seem like foreshadowing to you? Besides, there is no perfect person. Not even saint-14 was perfect for as much he was beloved. So, they'll just be looking for that leader for eternity whilst the fallen/hive/vex/cabal/ or darkness itself tear down our walls. Lovely. And people can put on acts; change when and if they want to. Like hideo: assisting the helpless till he gets precisely what he wants. Then turning a blind eye. The leader they eventually choose might fit all their credentials. But as soon as they get that power, it's over. Happened in history. Happens today in the real world. Has happened in the destiny universe. Will happen If NM gets their way. No one is perfect. Give someone that power, they'll bite the hand that fed them
