They obviously were inspired by Roman military for Cabal names and then creatures of myths for Vex names. But they probably just thought the Praetorian sounded better than any of the other options. What would you have them change it to, OP?

Perhaps Hoplite? They were Greek soldiers with shields which goes well with the theme of the relic..

Hoplite is a terrible name. It doesn't sound cool like preatorian. And the cabal aren't getting a DLC so they don't need any new types of troops. Though with this Spring update it may bring Mercury. And I don't think the cabal interest with the vex stopped on Mars...

Hoplite was simply the first idea that I thought of. There are probably much better choices.
