Are you able to explain where the donation money goes. It's a free site with members doing Web design for no charge. A donation goal of $9000, a clan should not be asking people for money, a clan should be fun and non profit making.

The site is hosted by iclan, hosting costs money as does clan merch, money freely donated by those members who wish to, donations are not a stipulation or requirement, funds are also set aside for monthly in house competitions and distributed to winners accordingly. Everything is transparent, has an audit trail and goes back into the clan. Contrary to what some others have said, its not a money making scheme for personal profit, the simple fact is that if every member donated $3 over the course of the clans existence, there would still be a sizable four figure sum available purely because of the amount of members. Yes clans are about fun, a small sum of money can help improve that experience for all involved. I'd sooner donate $5 to allegiance than I would to have kanye release another shit shower of an album or to some random twitch streamer which offers me no benefit whatsoever.

Iclan costs about $30 a month :-D he can run the site for more than 10 years if 5k has been donated already. You're preaching to the choir really here mate. Most of us are ex members. The competitions are not regular nor the prizes that sizeable (if the winners even receive them). Like you say, your money your choice - people should be made aware though.

  • Indeed, as is shown on the withdrawal statements available to all forum members, no one dictates how much a person is able to donate at any one time, its personal preference and never requested. I could donate 15% of my annual gross earnings and the balance would be near what it is now with one donation. I'm not going to, but I could, you see its entirely subjective. A smaller clan of 20 members could receive donations from every member (not because they require it) for $100 each and still be 2 grand up.

Rarer than 320 loot! None of us posting have any hostility towards yourself or xAx members. The fallout we all had with the founder after investing so much time and effort is what has left a sour taste in everyone's mouth - plus him trolling our website yesterday under a guest login to stir the pot again (bragging about his fifteen minutes of fame on bungie.net - the foundations of that clan you're in today were made by others for sure). By all means enjoy the game and the community - my friends list are all former members. I just get pissed off when folk will step up and defend him when through direct experience there are those of us who all know otherwise.

  • But some people either receive the "prize" half a year later or not at all. I'm just curious where all this money goes because a clan should not have a donation page because a clan is for helping people out for the love of it

  • Well yes, that's the nature of competitions, some win, some don't. As I said everything is transparent and information is freely displayed to all members, its not like any of us have to submit an information access request because the clan balance is right there on the front page for everyone to see, as are any deductions and what they are for. Who's to say what a clan should and shouldn't be? Interpretations and opinions obviously differ. I pay a monthly sub to my mc club, managed by an elected treasurer, much like the clan I ride a motorcycle for fun and social interaction, it just so happens there are costs involved other than the upkeep of the bike in doing so. xAx has a good infrastructure, online presence and these things cost money but benefits all who wish to take, its entirely my choice if I choose to donate to my clan or to buy a dlc at $20, no one is forcing me.

  • Not at all, I'm a 36 year old father of 3 with a mortgage, I'm perfectly capable of making my own choices. I was simply attempting to address your question in mature and civilised manner, like an adult. In actual fact I haven't even donated to the clan myself, but should I chose to do so I'm not going to lose any sleep over the fact that my donation is going towards the upkeep of a site and service that I use. It certainly beats donating your hard earned to some Ferrari driving televangelist or a charity which uses less than 20% of its income towards the cause it raises money for.

  • So why is there a $9000 donation goal again. Donations so far are just over $5000 must be some upkeep

  • Like I said, if every member donated $3 over the course of the clans existence, there would still be over $2500 in the balance. Some donate single figures, some double and some 3 figure sums, the clan is made up from people of all walks of life with different financial capability, I guess they donate as they are able and as they choose to. I believe the "target" is raised automatically each time a goal is reached, much like crowdfund.

  • As you say it's completely voluntary, which is why I donated when the site was first started. However after hearing his lies for God knows how many months about spending that money for prizes he promised, but strangely we never received, we got a bit suspicious. Just want to try and avoid people making the same mistakes. As Spuff has said, the people of xax were and probably are still great. But people need to know about the fraud of a founder.

  • Why doesn't he set a $3 donation limit then for those that want to, instead of accepting $200 in some cases. He has had thousands now for over a year . Then there is sponsorship for your twitch channel that he wants/ demanded for the admins. How is that coming along, is he open and transparent about that?
