So i am only level 18 and been playing only a little at a time maybe a mission or 2 a day. Nothing to crazy. I am not much of a fps player. Coming from a background of rpg/mmorpg games. This game intrigued me so I was like why the hell not. So purchased the legendary the taken king. Did not use the level 25 boost so to get the full effect of the game. So now I am wondering as i progress what is there to look forward to. I read these forums about pvp and it takes me back to the days of the world of war craft forums lol. So i am ready to basically get destroyed in pvp. Raiding, is it one giant cluster -blam!-? Or is there some strategies and such. I know there is strategies posted around the forums. But do people just go rogue and do what they want or are they usually compliant for a common goal. Hoping just to have fun and not want to bash my head into the wall lol. So if your gonna flame a noon go for it. If your gonna be constructive go for it. If your gonna just say hi go for it lol.
Thanks

Edited by BrosB4Gjallarhoez: 1/15/2016 1:22:29 AMPvp is shit ATM, with a good group of friends raids are no big deal....if you don't have any friends and rely on lfg websites prepare to be frustrated and dissapointed. Thats the tldr of destiny ATM if you disagree please see an eye doctor immediately

Uh, no need to do old content to learn how raiding works in this game compared to WoW. Ironically, hard modes are much like wow raids (imagine no battle rezzes). Normal mode raids are opportunities to learn the fights. Like in wow, read up on a fight ahead of time. Watch a how-to video for each boss. Let your team know you're new and are learning things (more people than not are tolerant of new players). Most bosses have a set strategy that, with limited opportunities to actually damage them, leave very little room to actually go off and do your own thing. Get a good mic, communicate often, be polite and willing to learn, and be patient. Also, consider leveling your suggested subclass fully before going in -- some perks make a world of difference over their alternatives. If you're on XB1, add me. I usually play after midnight, tho.

1 ReplyMust. Before you hit level 30 do a vog hard. And before you hit 32 a crota hard. Oh the woes of year one.

Hey if you want some fun gaurdians to play with I'm on PS4 just add toastyB3ARcub and I can get you going on what ever you would like to do. I'm currently helping a close friend of mine play his first play through and if you need help I'm glad to be there.

If you're Xbox one add Kermit Yup. I'll help anyway I can. The raids are pretty straight forward, pvp takes a bit to get used to

Wow what a refreshing post. You'll probably enjoy destiny a great deal with that attitude. The issue most people have with destiny is that it's a very addictive game that demands lots of hours in order to notice large amounts of progression. So players tend to have long play sessions and grind a lot to get to the point they want to be at. So they end up playing all the content multiple times until it gets stale, then they y'all at bungie because there isn't enough to satisfy them. But if you play it slowly you'll likely take ages to exhaust all the content destiny has to offer. So anyways the raids are a must do. Vault of Glass (the first raid) is the most fun in my opinion, even though the loot isn't exactly relevant anymore. I recommend you get into the lore too.

From the time I've played and talked to members of the community, destiny isn't an amazing 10/10 game, it a long 10 year journey. On the way you'll meet people that will be nice and join you on this quickly evolving game. I've met a lot of people because of this game, I often meet up with them irl. If your gonna start playing destiny, look for some others who will play it with you, this game is way more fun to play with friends.
also the forums can be pretty toxic at times so be aware of that
I'm down to show you anything you want to know lol if you're on ps4. I can show you people that are not too much if ducks and show you around PvE and PvP if you want. :)

Dont expect this game to be like WoW.

4 Replies1. The forums are a very toxic place 2. VOG is best raid 3. Smoggy Pluto is God 4. Blame Hunters for everything because... 5. Bungie is awful These are the general guidelines

Dude enjoy the game. If you're wondering about Raids check out some youtube game play to give yourself some perspective.

I'll start it off with most people on the forums are complainers, why? Well most are kids. If you ever need help on the forums, you will get it. There are good people on this forum, might be a few but there's some nice people. In game I haven't met any jerks, I have done strikes, nightfalls, raids ect, and haven't met a jerk in game. I guess the jerks just get on the forums. Pvp is hard at first especially because most people have their weapons set and their subclass maxed so you're at a disadvantage. You will need to get used to the maps and learn which type/setup of weapons make you the best. This might take a while. I started with a .4 kdr so I was horrible. Raiding you get the best gear, so you still need to play a while and learn the destiny mechanics until you can start raiding. Raiding is based on teamwork.

Get out of here. You don't want to be here. Run.

3 RepliesStay away from the forums bro. Once your lost in the salt you will never leave. * sings Hotel California

Enjoy the game. I kinda wish I could start fresh with all the TTK content but that's just because I ran through it so fast. I'm on xbox one but if you want help with something hit me up. I literally have nothing left except getting one more light point on each character....

I love raiding. Players must work together. If someone goes rogue it causes a team wipe. Normal mode - players can be revived. Hard mode - players can not be revived until the stage is cleared or team wipe. You get better gear drops on hard mode but your should run normal to get the feel of the mechanics. Normal is fun and enjoyable. Hard mode can feel like work. As others have said join a 100 clan. Pvp is fun as long as you don't take it too seriously. Mayhem is the best mode. Grenades and supers all of the time.

Do yourself a favour: stay away from the forums. Make your own experience first. Then maybe come here. It's like drugs- at First, it's cool and all. But after a while, you and the world around (Destiny) degenerates.

Welcome I hope u enjoy your stay. I recommend playing all the raids as there is strategy in them even though only one is technically worth your time. Careful on these forums as there are a lot of trolls but when you're looking for a raid team the majority of the community is pretty nice and easy going but u might find an elitist and if you do I recommend leaving and looking for a new group. If u need guys to play with on Xbone send me a message. It's a fun game and I hope u enjoy:)

Crucible damage is normalized so that low-level players can still do just fine with enough skill. You won't have all the perks and bonuses that come with quality gear and fully upgraded subclasses, but who cares? I remember taking my level 2 hunter straight to the Crucible and going 2.5 K/D in my first match. Couldn't even double-jump! XD

1 ReplyForget raiding for a while. Pug requirements are unrealistic for new players. In terms of pvp, wait until you get the following: Mida multi tool, The last word, 1000 yards stare.
