The Castle was attacked ONCE for me. I had over 400 defense at the time.
Now? Now I have 1000+ defense at the Castle.

Can I ask how you have 1000+ defense without going over the Settlements capacity?

Drop weapons. Store weapons in the workshop like you would furniture or structures. They drop the Meter down when stored.

The headquarters of the Minutemen once you re-establish them. It's after you do a few quest for them.
