All jokes aside though, yes. It's [i]partly[/i] a byproduct. But let's not forget that this region of land where ISIS is from has been extremely volatile since recorded history. Countless wars and invasions and slaughtering. And these extremists would've popped up regardless. People always crave power, and if they can use a vague, really disorderly religious book filled with many violent texts, then they will. Because is anything can make a person feel assured what they're doing is right and ok, it's religion. They'll use it to feel good about what they're doing because they believe they're doing it for what they view is a good cause.
