Though I have not seen it, I've heard that Evangelion had a rough last 2 episodes.
To the point where people recommend to just NOT WATCH THEM.

I heard the same thing! They suggested to watch the movies first then the anime

Yes! Those last two episodes are absolute garbage and will leave you even more confused. There's a separate movie/episodes that wrap it up much more nicely
