NO. some of us are really bad at pvp and just want to hit rank 5 before the event is over. yesterday i already had my 5 medallions and lost another 30 games after that ( 10 of those where loosing so bad i just quit ) there is NO reason to stay in a IB game if you already have 5 medallions. But now you are suggesting we get punished even more for not wanting to waste time and take AWAY xp? sounds like trolling or B8 not sure which one

I'm curious - how do you think removing join in progress will make "getting rank 5 and moving on" harder for you? I'm suggesting that the system change so that you aren't repeatedly dropped into games you have no chance of winning. That will help you, not hurt you. You will still get medallions for losing games, mercy rule will still end games that get out of hand so you don't waste your time. It just also means that you would take some responsibility for ruining the game for your team mates if you quit. And you should! I'm sorry if you don't like PVP, but Iron Banner is a PVP event. And more than that, it's a team-based PVP event.

Here's what I suggest: penalize people heavily for quitting (how about LOSING Iron Banner XP?), you completely ignored that part. that is clearly what i was responding to

No, I didn't ignore it. If you quit you should be punished. I stand by that; you shouldn't be able to reach rank 5 in a competitive PVP event by not playing the game. What I'm asking you is, how is the system I described incompatible with your goal of reaching rank 5? Why do you feel you need to be able quit guilt-free in order to be able to achieve that?

You are blaming the players and not bungie is the problem here. the simple way to help fix it should be to drop the cap limit on medallions. take out JIP all together and improve the mercy rule. Players shouldn't be punished for leaving when there is literally no incentive to stay. thats the problem

Sorry, we're not going to agree there. Not everyone plays this game just to get something tangible for there time; many of us play for fun, and when people like you quit, it ruins the experience for those people. If you want to do that in an FFA, that's your problem and it's not going to hurt anything. If you do it in a team game, you should pay for that. That is absolutely not Bungie's problem. Ultimately it sounds as if you agree with the system I propose except for the EXP penalty -- that's fine. Removing the cap on medallions is a bad idea though, because people will find ways to exploit the system to max out their reputation without actually playing the game. That's why there's a limit in the first place -- otherwise you end up with a bunch of people who are AFK but tap their control stick once a minute or so to keep from getting booted for inactivity. If you're only playing PVP for loot though, maybe that's what you want.
