Because people found a way to glitch it so that they would still be rank 5 from last time since it doesn't derank you when the previous ib is finished

Of course they could simply erase your rank once IB ends. Would probably be easier in the long run. But Bungie does not appear to think much.

If you wait like 6 hours but it still cuts down the number of people who do it by a lot

Why don't they fix that. I don't think it's too hard to reset the IB rank of every player with the reset.
