Since, patch 2.0 people have been in a rage about the sunbreaker subclass. The first response is to scream "NERF" on the forums and hope it so. However, no one offers an actual solution. My idea for the nerf/tweak would be a reasonable one.
Move health to a level that would allow a one-shot headshot by high impact snipers like every other super that guardians can use while traveling (i.e. bladedance, golden gun, storm caller). This would allow for a more reasonable killing potential given that sunbreakers can regain health upon kills, if they have that perk selected.
I hope this reaches moderators and most of the community. Give me your thoughts below.
Edit 1: Thanks for all of the discussion!
Edit 2: Pushing 500 responses. Thanks everyone.
Edit 3: To those glancing at my stats and seeing my 300 Hunter: you are failing to see 'time spent within crucible.' Yes, I started TTK because I liked the look of the nightstalker. This does not mean that I don't have the ability to main all three classes.
Edit 4: To those thinking that this would cripple the class: my purposed nerf would still leave it as one of the strongest supers in the game.
Edit 5: over 600 responses! Thanks everyone!

I'm cool with this idea. I've been killed by shotguns plenty of times while in hammer time. I found out that blinding them works pretty well too.
-
Eh, don't mind that actually. Sure why not

2 RepliesAllow me to help OP... Don't use the word nerf, it makes Titans stop reading and prepare their angriest replies. I don't think a nerf is necessary for them personally, but a word like, "revision" Or "adjustment" will not instantly provoke anger
-
I completely agree with you right here. I have been a titian since i started and have a decent amount of experience in the crucible. It's going to get nerfed regardless and if it is this is the way i would choose to nerf it. Make it so a ldr type sniper can headshot and i think all will be fair.

12 RepliesFun fact: 3 subclasses can survive a golden gun shot while supered Defender Sunbreaker Striker Notice a pattern?? All are titans. Titans are tanks, and as such, are supposed to take a ton of damage, especially when they are in the height of their power( the supers) Hunters are about speed. Golden gun can kill you in the blink of an eye, as can blade dancer, and as such, lose armor for speed and agility. Warlocks are the glass cannons, capable of dealing a ton of damage, but being unable to take as much as they deal.
-
Nah, titans are the tanks of Destiny. They should be able to have that armor plus survivability with the regen. Hunters are crafty so they can have the regen but neither hunters nor warlocks should have that armor. That's not the playstyle.
-
What's the big problem? You died from a guy who was in his super? Isn't that supposed to happen? If you died twice in a row from the same guys same super then it's ur own damn fault for being a dumbass n running right back to a guy who just supered you a second ago. Why dont you let the titans super fade away by not engaging when you see a bright orange guy or hear the hammer ting and just go fight someone else.

1 ReplyI think the best way to nerd it would to be to make the cauterize perk proc only on a melee kill. Also, maybe a 5% armor reduction
-
I think if you have cauterize selected as a perk it should lower your armor by about 5%
-
This would be the ideal solution I have no problem with the sun breaker class at all just enable high impact snipers to one shot head shot

Sunbreaker DENIED

Edited by xXGamingSilverXx: 10/8/2015 11:17:26 AMWhat I don't understand is why a ranged super (hammer of Sol) has more armor than a close range super (storm trance/blade dance). It doesn't make any sense. If a super can kill from across the map then it should have less armor than the super that must be within melee distance
-
4 RepliesI say make the health 125% instead of 110%, but make the super 5 seconds shorter and replace the health regen with every kill
-
I remembered when thorn was all the rage it was fun times bathing in the tears and sitting on their corpse.... When I killed a thorn user I used a red death 🔖

If we have no travel time on our hammers and our melee range is brought up to be more like the other two classes
-
Oh stop it silly goose

2 RepliesYo all you want is to is make a special weapon absolute to any super cause that's your thing. Maybe if you grabbed shot gun you'd know all it took was to shots. In fact to sniper shots do the trick too. It's a super and a super simpler to arc blade and Stormtrance on the class with naturally more armor then the other classes. This armor is not without flaws because titans are the only class without a swift blink like movement and the lowest agility. More likely then not the player doesn't move much while in in HoS so if others can adapt so can you. Why should the Titans get less damage resistance in their armored super cause it lets them barely survive something that kills most of the others.

26 RepliesAs soon as titans get a ranged subclass everyone cries nerf,

Unless you get rid of that health regen people will stay up in arms

I've figured out ways to counter Sunbreakers. One is to just run from them then come from behind them and their super should be over and shotgun them in the -blam!-ing face. Also, Sunbreakers -blam!-in suck at aiming at hovering targets so just fly around them and take small shots at them, always be on the move. I've been doing fine with just those two tips.
-
I am a titan who uses sun breaker and I approve
-
It's fine.
-
Coming from a titan main. A little tweak is necessary but i want to remind the people here a thing that is easily forgotten is that it would affect the PvE side even harder (depending on the type of nerf ofcourse)
-
I main a titan, i feel like a god with the sunbreaker but it is my least favourite class. But you're right about the logical nerf i was watching my brother play once and he hit a head shot with an ice-breaker on a Hammer of Sol and it was 193...
-
Coming FROM a Sunbreaker... Less armor is needed. But the Hammer # is fine. We never actually use all 7.
