I'm not a fan either. I prefer in your face, ground and pound fighting.

Lol. To each his own. Personally I despise small maps because anything that isn't long range sniping/sniper dueling is boring to me. Shotgun/handcannon hell is not fun in any way. A Scout Rifle and Sniper Rifle, and a huge open map is all you need for fun PvP (to me).
