Not really defending but honestly I wouldn't expect anything more. They will only replace what they gave you. Not upgrade you. This is Microsoft we're talking about. This new console exists for a profit, they wouldn't just do the friendly thing.

Some would, though they would have to have a good reason behind it usually, such as the old ones being faulty by design or the cost significantly dropping and then deciding to go ahead and give them something of equal value, but generally, no they wouldn't.
