The mentality of those who say "i'm bored of my Fatebringer, Gally and Black Hammer. I'm happy they are nerfing every single piece of gear i grinded for so i will have incentive to play again" is not a very logical way of thinking(no offense) here is why.
First off, if YOU are bored then drop your "boring" guns voluntarily, exercise some willpower, and go try something new on your own accord. Trust me, its better than being forced to grind for new guns.
Secondly, who are YOU to say to those who grinded endlessly for an entire, literal YEAR building an arsenal perfectly tailored to the way they play and love to just move on, "stop whining"? That just sounds rediculous.
Thirdly, if players were to keep their old guns it would not harm YOU nor anyone else in anyway. So what if i want to use the Strange Suspect for 10 years? It is and should be MY/the players choice to make, NOT yours or anyone opposing them. You are literally opposing something that cannot harm or dull the experience for you or anyone else in any way and would also make half the player base very happy!
Fouthly, Some of you will say this is an MMO and we should have expected this. Well, according to the Wiki, it's not an MMO. But lets say it is anyway. Other MMO's are vastly different from Destiny. Destiny is its own game! Do you know what Destiny REALLY is(cause everyone seems to have forgetting this genre)...A LOOT Based Shooter! Lest we forget Borderlands started that. That is what Destiny is, NOT an MMO. And just because someone else did it wrong, doesn't mean WE should do it wrong. This game is about choice. MMO or not Bungie themselves even said the exotics at the very least would never fade and "we would never have to worry"... well, here we are. WE should have a choice! And now all the choices we worked for will vanish into obsoletion.
Lastly, just because someone plays to build a weapons collection or for a different reason than YOU doesn't mean their way of playing or opinion is wrong. People have different perspectives on this game! Just because they don't share yours doesn't mean they should GTFO. Honestly, if you can't respect theres then YOU should GTFO as it is not a matter of moral anymore, it is a fact you cannot handle others opinions. If your opinion hurts others then let it be known! If it does not then leave it alone!
If one side of the forums says "Let year 1 legendaries and exotics buff alongside the new TTK gear" it literally hurts no one.
If one side of the forums says "Don't let year 1 legendaries and exotics buff alongside the new TTK gear" it hurts a lot of players!
We grinded hard for our gear

I just feel like that full year of hard work is going down the drain

2 RepliesIf they pulled a dark below and made year 1 legendaries and exotics slightly less powerful than the new gear I'd be fine with. Im fine with the nerf. But dont just throw it all away. I see so many people arguing over this and i dont understand why we can't just have both. Old and new

Blah blah blah blah blah. I'm entitled to blah blah blah blah blah.

1 ReplyI honestly couldn't care less about not being able to upgrade weapons, what bugs me is the fact that our armors will become obsolete. From what I can gather, Bungie wants us to wear armor that makes us stand out and be different. Now were getting kicked in the shin and told that what we use to differentiate ourselves will now be obsolete.

The lays brand salty tears are fresh in this post! Cry some more! But first have some chips!

Stop whining.

7 RepliesEdited by TrueVanguard: 8/22/2015 9:39:03 PMIf we honestly want balance and good progression in Destiny then we have to be willing to leave things behind. They severely limit Bungie's ability to learn from developmental mistakes and fix them going forward if theyre still shackled to weapons that caused the imbalance they're trying to fix. A hard wipe of first year weapons is actually the best possible thing for the future of destiny. Would it suck? Yes. I'd miss specific weapons. But it would free up destiny devs to really create a new meta.

16 RepliesThe people at Bungie who participate in making the decision to leave weapons behind don't even play this game enough to have fired every exotic in the game. One guy in the reveal sitting next to Deej has been trying all year to get the Bad Juju, and still hasn't gotten it. The people in charge leaving these weapons behind have no attachment or game time with the weapons they are killing off. It's all business to them. They can care less about what you like, or what I like. They just want to force you to use the new weapons by assassinating the old ones. Likely because it's bad press that almost every wave of weapons they've released has been less than effective as a whole than the first wave released at launch. It seems the only way they can guarantee beating those old weapons is by not allowing them to compete.

I wish there was an option to take at least any 5 year one legendaries we choose over to TTK so it would be relevant.

Get over it mate

1 ReplyI've got fatebringer, VOC gally, icebreaker, black hammer, hunger, vex, and anything else worth having. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD BUNGIE... nerf every single one of them... Freeze their attack values in time so they are no longer a viable option for new content. Out with the old, in with the new. Come@me crybabies =)
-
1 ReplyNothing is forcing you to give them away. Keep them. But the rest of us will enjoy an upgrade
-
10 RepliesIs easy: I dont care = I have nothing I care = I worked hard for it The sad thing here is, we are minority, the vast majority are casuals who will leave this game before the end of year 2.

2 RepliesHey how about that easy "new" exotic upgrade path....... Taken King exotic upgade: Find a old exotic, go to the tower vendor (blueprint kiosk), pay large sum of currency (150 marks) and get a higher damage UN-Leveled version of that exotic. .....that's now painted black and may have slightly different perks Dark Below exotic upgade: Find a old exotic, go to tower vedor (Xur on weekend), pay large sum of currency (7000 glim and 1 shard), and get a higher damage UN-Leveled version of that exotic Hmmmmmm. Let's see what Bungie had to say about that last year after players hated it:
Bungie Weekly Update - 12/04/2014 by DeeJ “The last thing we wanted was for you to look at your favorite gun or helmet and decide that it had become obsolete. Since the reveal, we’ve read a lot of ideas for how this could have been done better. Your feedback is clear: The time you have invested in your stuff should be respected.”
Here's a great video addressing this: http://youtu.be/Z4b5Jj6xGxQ Spread the word. #saveourexotics

I've got pretty much everything at this point, pretty sure I've grinded more than the average person. I think the weapon rebalancing is a step forward overall, and I don't mind that I won't be able to "ascend" some of my old weapons. I for one am tired of using Fatebringer and Gjallarhorn for every piece of pve content and welcome the new guns.

Loot based shooter LBS BS HOLY GOD THEY KNEW

All the Bungie Pole Vaulters are gonna cry when the last dlc comes out. DESTINY 1's Greatest Hits! Resurrect your year 1 2 and 3 fav's with the purchase of this fabulous new dlc!

Stop whining

1 ReplyAt the very least, all exotics should carry over with an improved version of it available for purchase. The ini mini miny mo they did is laughable at best.
-
1 ReplyIt's happening. Get over it.
-
MMO's also don't release expansions every year. MMO players have way more time to play with their awesome weapons than us.
-
1 ReplyI have an idea! It's an off the wall idea one that most of you have overlooked especially you Op and your bud Ken. Ready? Are you ready? Ok here goes... Wait until TTK drops so you're absolutely positive your old weapons are less effective in year 2. That way you can really feel like you're right not this half-assed feeling of "my way or the highway." Yeah I may sound sarcastic but that's beside the point. I hope this gave you a new outlook on where you stand in regards to this situation.
