For those who say "Stop whining about your old legendaries/exotics getting nerfed".
The mentality of those who say "i'm bored of my Fatebringer, Gally and Black Hammer. I'm happy they are nerfing every single piece of gear i grinded for so i will have incentive to play again" is not a very logical way of thinking(no offense) here is why.
First off, if YOU are bored then drop your "boring" guns voluntarily, exercise some willpower, and go try something new on your own accord. Trust me, its better than being forced to grind for new guns.
Secondly, who are YOU to say to those who grinded endlessly for an entire, literal YEAR building an arsenal perfectly tailored to the way they play and love to just move on, "stop whining"? That just sounds rediculous.
Thirdly, if players were to keep their old guns it would not harm YOU nor anyone else in anyway. So what if i want to use the Strange Suspect for 10 years? It is and should be MY/the players choice to make, NOT yours or anyone opposing them. You are literally opposing something that cannot harm or dull the experience for you or anyone else in any way and would also make half the player base very happy!
Fouthly, Some of you will say this is an MMO and we should have expected this. Well, according to the Wiki, it's not an MMO. But lets say it is anyway. Other MMO's are vastly different from Destiny. Destiny is its own game! Do you know what Destiny REALLY is(cause everyone seems to have forgetting this genre)...A [u][b]LOOT[/b][/u] Based Shooter! Lest we forget Borderlands started that. That is what Destiny is, NOT an MMO. And just because someone else did it wrong, doesn't mean WE should do it wrong. This game is about [b]choice[/b]. MMO or not Bungie themselves even said the exotics at the very least would never fade and "we would never have to worry"... well, here we are. WE should have a choice! And now all the choices we worked for will vanish into obsoletion.
Lastly, just because someone plays to build a weapons collection or for a different reason than YOU doesn't mean their way of playing or opinion is wrong. People have different perspectives on this game! Just because they don't share yours doesn't mean they should GTFO. Honestly, if you can't respect theres then YOU should GTFO as it is not a matter of moral anymore, it is a fact you cannot handle others opinions. If your opinion hurts others then let it be known! If it does not then leave it alone!
[b]If one side of the forums says "Let year 1 legendaries and exotics buff alongside the new TTK gear" it literally hurts no one.
If one side of the forums says "Don't let year 1 legendaries and exotics buff alongside the new TTK gear" it hurts a lot of players![/b]

It's not getting nerfed.. It's starting exactly where it is... And if you haven't noticed the strong steer in the mmo rpg direction with the taken king reveals, well your not posting attention. I'm not bored with my fate bringer. But I can't wait till everyone is coveting something else, ghorn included.. It's exciting.. It's usually the best part of a new expansion on an mmo style game.. New gear that is so great you don't mind the change.. Now that doesn't mean bungie can't screw it up.... Theyll need to give us a new Excalibur (ghorn) and new top class exotics and legendaries.. So long as they do.. It's all good things

This is how MMO content releases work. This is how they have always worked. Destiny uses the MMO content release structure. From day 1, this has been apparent. This should honestly come as a shock to no one.

I have all exotics and raid weapons and enjoyed getting every single one, and I'll do it all again. It's a game dude, try to have fun

Lets face it, we don't want to keep every single gun from Year 1 but there are a select few that have added value. Personally the raid guns stand out as keepers. I think the biggest compliment to Bungie in Year 2 would be if we decided OURSELVES to scrap our old guns because the new ones are that much better. Opposed to this being imposed on us.

You do realize that other games do the exact same thing with gear? It is simply a part if the way they want to advance the game. I would rather not have to handle a bunch of old legendaries and new legendaries on top of that, along with exotics as well.

6 RepliesEvery loot based game does this, it is not uncommon to have to get rid of old gear in order to move forward in a game. If you kept the starting pistol in borderlands 2 the whole game you wouldnt be able to beat normal mode. In loot based games you are supposed to drop old gear for new, better gear, no one complained about the concept until the taken king.

No one's keeping you from using them or keeping them. But the game's not obligated to anchor itself to its first year in existence. And the developers aren't obligated to keep finding ways to fold old weapons into the new weapon economy/hierarchy. The philosophy behind weapon design seems to be changing quite dramatically with TTK. The year one weapons wouldn't fit within that new system. You should really just keep an open mind and see how you like the new stuff.

They're not nerfing all your old weapons, they'll still be EXACTLY THE SAME within the current content. All they're doing is adding new, higher rated weapons and gear for the new, higher rated, content. Simples.
