Except that in Oblivion, that was a different Daedric Prince, and the whole point of ESO is that Molag Bal is using his Daedric Anchors to pull Nirn into his realm of Coldharbor.

Mehrunes Dagon wanted to get rid of the mortals because he thinks Nirn should belong to him. It's essentially the same plot with different princes.
