Fox News often separates itself from the mainstream media. But they're one of the largest, most-watched media outlets in the US. What makes them not part of the dreaded mainstream media that they rally against?

Fox News is for crazy religious nuts in their 70s. The reason it's the most popular is because they are the only people who actually watch cable anymore.

1 ReplyAll major American news outlets are terrible. Fox, cnn, msnbc, they all suck.

2 RepliesMad max. You come here to post boring political related stories that nobody cares about. Go back to sep7

Fox isn't mainstream now?

They are. However they at least have quality reporting. I am not including the opinion heads.

I am very conservative but also believe that Fox news does cause brain cancer.
-
The only thing Fox News rally for is misleading the public.

Fox news? U meen sensitiv tv wit radikal feminists?

Fox News is literally a joke. Their extreme right-wing bias causes brain cancer.

They're all -godwinslaw!- spinning the same material with different bias.

What's big, black, racist, and hate whites/asians? CNN

5 RepliesEdited by Hoggs Bison: 4/13/2015 11:53:09 PMI'd say the main thing is age: Fox is not even 20 years old, while the Big Three (that Fox was created to compete against) have been around for much, much longer. And this isn't just true of ABC/CBS/NBC, but also of other long-running and highly respected media like The Washington Post and New York Times. These are what Fox anchors and commentators define as mainstream: the entrenched, Liberal interests that have lodged themselves into government and society and are controlling us like puppet-masters. Fox News is a rebellious 90's kid, here to give us the Fair and Balanced (TM) view that the lamestream media have deprived us of. Edit: here's a video where Fox's Chris Wallace gets a little annoyed that Jon Stewart is calling his network an activist Conservative organization (02:45).
Are you willing to say the same thing about the mainstream media, about ABC, CBS, NBC, Washington Post, New York Times... would you say the same thing about them, that they are, in your words, a propaganda delivery system relentlessly pushing a Liberal agenda?
Thankfully, Stewart rejects that false equivalence bullshit ("Fox is just the Conservative counterweight to [x] Liberal news!"), but the point is that this is how Fox hosts see the media.

Can't remember the last time I really went on American media. I almost exclusively read pro-rebel and pro-government news out of Syria, plus their individual social media accounts.
-
4 RepliesBecause they are beyond biased, they are ignorant, and their views cannot be persuaded no matter how much evidence the opposing view has.

Who knows. All these news stations go full-retard at one point in time.

5 RepliesEdited by Miharu_Tansho: 4/14/2015 1:31:38 AMAll of the news networks were terrible for America and news reporting. With 24 hours a day to fill they had to switch from news to entertainment and opinion to fill the time and keep profits up. There hasn't been real TV journalism for decades. To answer your question, they aren't the other networks which are more than a bit liberal.

Fox is mainstream. I only watch WGN. No mainstream news for me.

1 ReplyI always keep my promises. Well, not always. But I will in this instance.
